Well, we did beat them at home in the cup last season, which is why I wouldn't mind them first next season.

Man U at home. They often start badly. Definitely don't want any newly-promoted and/or new manager teams, particularly away, for the first few weeks.

Man Utd, play them early and get it out of the way. Also it will make me feel better about not having a season ticket.

Most important is to avoid playing newly promoted teams early on.

I remember the year we won the First Division. First game of the next season was newly promoted Notts County at home. We came out on the pitch parading the First Division trophy with Queen's "We Are The Champions" blasting over the tannoy system all round the ground. Notts County were there for the slaughter. They beat us 1-0.
