Like many I have thought for a long time that I will never see Villa win the FA Cup. However I got to thinking yesterday. I know it's a grisly thought and I'm clutching at straws but I was born in January 1958 two weeks overdue. That means that when we won the cup in May 1957, my Mom was about 1 month pregnant with me. I am now content that we have won the cup in my "lifetime".

I have a similar birth thing going on, but in a bad sense.

The day after I was born, in 1968, Albion won the FA Cup.

Which means that they have won the FA Cup in my lifetime, but Villa haven't.

I'm going to be *so* relieved when we win it next year.

Ive seen them win the European cup but not the fa cup, how can this happen.

Another positive is that the good folk on H and V and all the brilliant people involved will still be here when time has healed the wounds from all this

God (the deity, not THE "God") obviously hates us.

Agreed. This site is the best thing on the Internet without a shadow of a doubt.

Positive. Hmmm, got to spend time with my  brother.

Had a good meal, good beers too.

That's about it.

I tried the mushroom burger at Wembley.  Very tasty.

Very off topic but that makes me feel slightly ill! I loved mushrooms until I had a mushroom risotto and had severe food poisoning

I suppose not qualifying for the Europa League is a positive

It will be more enjoyable winning it next season than it would have been retaining it.

About a million times more judging by the low key Arsenal fans leaving the ground.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned: I'm sure that Stevie G would have preferred to see the Villa beat the Arsenal, as then he would have at least had the consolation of having his birthday ruined by the cup winners, so we have helped to make his birthday even more miserable for him!

True. I left a couple of minutes before the end (missing the Giroud goal) and there were Arsenal fans on the same train as the Villa heading away from the ground!  Just imagine if Villa had won it!  We'd have probably all still have been there an hour after the trophy had been presented!

There were dozens of them streaming out of the ground at the same time as me - about 10 mins before the end, with the score at 3-0. I actually asked 2 of them why they weren't staying until the end and one of them said to me "well, when you've seen them do it 6 times...." I tell you what, if there hadn't been 2 of them and if they hadn't looked as handy as they did then I'd have lamped the pair of them.... In the end I just said something about them going to all the trouble to get a ticket only to walk out 10 minutes before their moment of glory. Then I said something childish about them never winning the European Cup. Then I jumped on the tube back to the pub and drank myself into angry oblivion.

Still feeling a tad delicate this morning

I stayed to clap the Villa players as they got their medals and just caught them lifting the cup so the ones I was surrounded by on the walk to the coaches (it seemed we were surrounded by all Arsenal fans at that point) must have left the second after it was lifted and not waited for any lap of honour. There was no singing or sense of excitement from them. It was like leaving a cinema at the end of a film.

That was their sixth final & theyve won it 5 times since we last got to the final..
I dare say if we had that sort of record wed be a little arrogant/blazé about it.
