What I'm still struggling to comprehend is the totalality of the defeat.

From minute 1 we were second best in every single department, from the mistake by Okore in about minute 2 to their 4th going in in the 93rd minute, it was a total defeat, not 1 glimmer of equalling them let alone bettering them.  We came second, but in truth we were second by a million miles.
I was crying out for somebody, anybody to have a shot and lift the team and fans but nobody was willing to take any responsibility. They all played with fear.

I was the same - just something to galvanise the fans. I remember reading in the French paper L'Equipe after Liverpool's comeback in the 2005 final v Milan that somebody had a shot 5 minutes into the second half which went wide but lifted their fans. The reporter's comment was along the lines of "only an English team and it's supporters would raise the roof after a shot off target when losing 3-0 in a Champions league final".

There was a moment around 31 minutes when we sort of mounted an attack and even though it came to nothing it had a palpable impact on our support - the first thing to stir us and provide some belief that this could be a backs to the wall miracle. Sadly I think it was the only such moment.

I've been trying to pick the most crushing comeback to knuckledraggers dizzy with delight at our capitulation, but there are so many I'm struggling to choose.
Don`t waste your time, you cannot reason with the unreasonable, have you seen some of the utter garbage they`re putting on Facebook? -  Beyond belief some of `em. Even the reasonable ones are at it, enjoy the moment small fry - then crawl back under your stone where you belong.

They have the mentality of a pea brained 10 year olds. And those older and wise are happy to adopt such mentality in the event of a Villa set back.

They are sad pitiful covetous knuckle-dragging cocks of the highest magnitude.

The only pity is that many of our fans seem to adopt such mentality at theirs and the bitters expense

Yep, it beggars belief at times.  Blues and Coventry are both in the bottom halves of leagues outside the top flight and are both in pretty dire financial positions, and we beat Albion en route to get to the final.  Forget all that though, they see a team they don't support beating us in the FA Cup final as a cause for celebration.  Maybe if they concentrated on their own pathetic little clubs and actually went to watch them for a change, they might start to improve.

I was very disappointed that the second song sung by the Villa end after kick-off was about them..........I said to my son "Oh let's not sing about that lot today!!"

The response I've settled for is:

It could have been worse, it could have been 8.

At home.

Against Bournemouth.

Finally got home last night and can confirm I'm still in the 'never watching football again' phase. Might take a while to shake this one off.

It was a galling experience, not helped by my having drunk far too much beforehand.

As Matt says, it may take a while.

After the loss to Southampton I was a bit disgusted but it didn't really bother me. Against Burnley I would normally be shouting and bawling for 90 mins but I didn't. I just sat and watched and even though we lost it didn't really bother me. On Saturday at a wedding I stood there, the only villa fan, watching us being humiliated  and having the piss taken out of me and it just didn't bother me. Today at work I had the piss taken and again it didn't bother me. Go back 12 months and I would certainly have had heated discussions with some of the piss takers. Whether my passion for football and the villa is subsiding only time will tell. Perhaps they have just worn me down.

just a point of view

from minute 1 I said we give them the wings, as arse had the widest ploayers on the pitch, that meant they could attack our backs more easily, and who should have been providing cover Charlie and Jack a right double act of "from you to me"

That is why we lost, yes I know theres a number on here that want Grealishes children but..........

Never good to see Villa fans fighting each other...cant say I saw any trouble at Wembley, but there was an ignorant twat who barged through the queues at the Green Man spilling my fresh pint and the person behind me. There also appeared to be a couple of non-colour wearing Villa youth gangs who had a bit of handbags at one point.

We were the first coach to arrive at Yellow car park and first coach to leave...the only "trouble" I saw with Arsenal fans was when a cocky cockney started giving it the large one as our coach passed and a Villa fan randomly came running along and twatted him square in the face. What followed was like a scene from Benny Hill with Arsenal fans chasing Villa fan, police chasing Arsenal fans chasing the Villa fan, Villa fan slipping over and random chaos as police try to pull it apart with random legs and punches being thrown. Pure comedy gold.

I noticed that straight away - Hutton was left exposed many times early in the first half.

When Gerrard was picked for the semi final I said to jnr - were gonna win this !!

Likewise when jnr heard that Walcott was playing - he turned me and said - were gonna lose this :(

Regarding scarves - we went to our seats to collect them as soon as we were in the Stadium - we went to our seats and the scarves ended where our two seats started !!!! We got flags but no scarves - instead of knicking those laid out we waited until Arsenal received the trophy and collected a few left sprawled on the floor .

I'm going to be posting my ticket back to the club that's how much this piss poor performance has done to me.
I've seen us win league cups for fun league championships European cups and a super cup to boot, yet for all the great performances I've seen awful ones to yet that abject surrender at Wembley will haunt me forever.
5000 miles for me this season and even under the dross served up by lambert none of the games comes remotely close to that at on Saturday.
feel so sorry for the young fans I seen with there faces painted all smiles proud parents taking there kids on a trip to Wembley to be shattered by those on the pitch.
I better stop because I'm seething.

tell me you're joking. You're going to post your FA Cup final tickets back to the club. The previous trophy was 20 years and those other things are 30+ years ago, and we got beaten by a side that cost 10 times ours in the cup final and it has caused you to jump off the edge? There are fans of many other sides who would have given their right arm to have just got to experience what you did leading up to the game. Get a grip.
