It was the one thing we pretty much all said we needed to do. Get after them with a high tempo game, don't give them any space to play, go with attacking intent and have a real crack at them.

The only team that did any of this was Arsenal while we chased shadows for 90 minutes.

Chased implies effort, I didn't see a lot of that.

It was a case of watching men against boys.

In the history of  FA Cup Finals, very rarely can a set of fans, giving such brilliant support be so utterly let down, by a group of players, giving such an unbelievably dire performance. Sherwood has a massive job ahead of him this summer.

Ref was very poor - not that it affected the result - but truly very poor.  Blowing up for free kicks against us for fuck all and giving us nothing when Gabby gets hacked down.  Card happy very early on too. Looked starstruck.

Got to agree on the ref, he seemed to give Arsenal a free kick whenever one of their players went down under the slightest of challenges. He booked 5 of our players yesterday and other than Hutton's, there wasn't really a bad challenge in the game, although Gabby's was for dissent I think.

I can't help thinking that penalty would have been given at the other end.

Sorry, can we get over the myth we had great support yesterday. It wasn't great. It matched the team. The support yesterday was poor. Only rarely did the crowd get going.

I thought the fans , like the team were completely wracked with nerves. It felt weird from the off.

It did seem flat. Think a lot of fans "peaked" too soon.

It's difficult to raise your voice when your team has allowed Per Mertesacker to score.

It was a great atmosphere pre-kick off but I thought the team started flat and the feeling in the crowd followed.

It felt like we were playing under Lambert yesterday, quite one dimensional football, lots of passing sideways and backwards and not much pace in the team. Arsene Wenger obviously knew what we were going to try and do (lump it up to Benteke), sorted that out and then ripped us apart. There was one point at about the 60th minute when Okore, Hutton and Westwood were passing it around to each other, and they were all losing the balls to shadows, no arsenal players nearby but making little mistakes. Unfortunately Arsenal played a fantastic game of football. Part of me felt if we could get to HT 0-0 then we may have a fighting chance, 1-0 down was a big mountain to climb, 2-0 no chance.

If you look at Arsenal and their form since xmas they have been playing very well. I've let the dust settle and a bit more relaxed about it now.

2 observations for me though re Arsenal fans: Firstly how can they all afford to have the away shirt? Secondly I left when at Full Time and Arsenal fans were streaming out at the same time, made me a bit upset that their team had just won the FA cup and they didnt stay to celebrate.

Can't get my head around how early some fans got to wembley and how out of it they were by kick off. It was like going on a major bender then trying to watch a football game after it. Nuts.

Arsenal were relaxed and better all over the pitch. We were nervous, loads of basic mistakes, maybe if Arse had not won it last year they maybe we would have had a better chance I.e. Like Hull last year, but they knew how to get the job done.

I felt like singing 'abide with me' after the match rather than before it
