Oh, I still agree that trains should be renationalised by the way, I just put a few random links that came up by Googling "extra trains cup final".

Well if the decision to ban the flag isn't overturned, it will at least be a case of the FA reaching a decent decision.  Just a pity it's for the wrong reasons.

It doesn't scan, it's small time and it's a bit shit.  All fair enough.

It might be considered inflammatory because it uses the world Arsenal?  Get real.

From MOMS on Facebook:-

"Arsenal plans for final - they will have scarves, giant flag (reportedly the club paid 8k for flag) and they're really going for the yellow & blue theme.
Our club prefer to listen to a handful of clueless toxic wankers on forums and hinder own fans' attempts to take Arsenal on in the stands - without good reason and despite even Arsenal fans support of flag.
We will all need to go wild in the stadium to make up for this."

I think he should look a bit closer to home when it comes to his clueless comment.

Now they're blaming the club for their self inflicted bed sheet disaster.  You couldn't make this stuff up.

Has mom missed the point that we're also having scarves, paid for by the club? And we're really going for a claret and blue theme!
Maybe if he/she/they had engaged a brain when designing the the flag the reaction to it would have been positive from both Villa fans and the FA.
One thing's for sure, a flag isn't going to affect either the noise levels or who wins the cup.

That's pretty mental stuff.

Announce you're going to make a massive flag, then get the massive hump when people don't like it and feel entitled to say so.

Here's an idea, why didn't you ask supporters about the design on the flag before presenting it as a fait accompli?

Oh and "go wild in the stadium" sounds like something David Mellor would say.

As for the Arsenal statement supporting it, they've reproduced their reply on the MOMS site in full, which includes this paragraph:

Quote
We are flattered that the Villa fans consider us worthy of being included on their banner and see absolutely no reason why Arsenal fans should consider it anything other than what it is, a well designed idea with no intention to cause any offence or incite bad feeling between the fans.

"flattered" - can't they see that that's a perfect example of the things people were criticising in the first place?

Why name check the name of the club we're playing? It makes us look like plucky Burton Albion on a rare day out against some premier league giant.

I can put up with the nonsensical grammar, and the "inciting trouble" line is utter shite, but to me that banner looks incredibly small-time.

To then get the hump because some people point this out is beyond parody. Maybe they should have thought about it before now, rather than leaving it to the last minute? The semi final was on April 19th. That's a 5-6 week gap between then and the final.

Speaking as a clueless toxic w****r, I don't feel qualified to comment.
