I've no problem with them making money, I just don't want them to do so in a way that makes us look shit. Why did they not consult before submitting the design? Surely anyone with an IQ higher than single figures could've told them that a flag mentioning Arsenal was petty and stupid.

The flag might get a few seconds of exposure during a camera spanning the villa end,
I don't think it's anything to get our knickers in a twist over

It's going to be a massive day, the flag will be a total irelavance in my opinion

The old flag was retired because it was worn in patches. At the semi final, they just surfed one edge of it (I think about a 1/3 or a 1/4 of the original size). The Club had already said that they may use sections of the old flag to surf in other parts of the ground such as The Lower North Stand.

Although we did the mosaic, the mini flag did look a bit rubbish, especially as Liverpool did have their massive flag. From the Villa end, we couldn't see the mosaic, we saw when it happened, and I think some people had the sense to look at the big screen, but I think most of us came out of Wembley with no idea what it had said or how good it looked.

You could see the mosaic from 2/3 of the ground, and it looked unbelievably good.  It was a real shiver-down-the-spine moment, and the Scousers sat near us all commented on it.  It really should be repeated if it isn't too late.

Agreed. Like many others I think the design isn't great but at least they've had the gumption to do something so I'm not going to be too harsh on them. I think everyone is taking the flag thing a bit too seriously. The main thing is we create as much noise as possible, support the team throughout and come home with the big eared cup!

I think the blocks of scarves is the 'upgrade' on the mosaic, and would have an ongoing lesser colour impact throughout, presuming we all have a bit on display round our necks etc.

I share the view that it's great people just get on and do stuff, just regret we define ourself in opposition to another team.

Imagine if it was never mind the 'homophobia' or something worthwhile saying, there's so much positive stuff we could say, to actually shine a good light on the club, something about safe standing, loads of stuff that could profile Villa still as we have been, leaders in the game, holders of the right values. This isn't as classy as one expects from Villa fans.

I was underneath the mosaic so couldn't see it and was looking at the screen throughout but for some reason the editor chose not to show it.

We were to the side of the mosaic and had no idea what it said. I only knew in the car home when I saw a picture of it on Facebook, I think by Risso. It looked fantastic though, i've said before, a lot of non Villa fans I know, sometimes grudgingly, commented on how good it looked.

The mosaic looked great on TV. What would be ace is if they did another mosaic, the one Randy restored on the Holte. That would look ace.

That is impressive. The mosaic looks awesome as well.

To put my two penneth in, I think the flag design is terrible. It shouldn't mention Arsenal. What's wrong with a flag like the one we have in The Holte?

I'm confused, what's awful? Apart from the The Aston Villa abomination.

I don't think he was suggesting the Xavi flag. At least I'm assuming he was referring to the proposed Villa flag.
