I see Delph has apologized as well as tekkers. Delph looked pretty gutted. Good lad.

At the end he just stood and applauded our support for ages in a 'I could stand here forever and clap at how brilliant you lot are and it still wouldn't be long enough' kind of way.

After the game I felt really calm, like the disaster I'd been waiting for had happened and it wasn't the end. A weird calmness descended on me. I didn't quite expect everything to turn out alright so quickly, but by the end of the game, I felt alright. People around me were smiling, like we already knew. It was an odd thing.

Thats awesome.

I think it is a really interesting observation that this team under Sherwood has put in an incredible effort to haul themselves away from the relegation zone given where we were and very much headed. Maybe that is a part of today. That having expended all of that energy they just simply shit the bed and made mistakes that they haven't been making in recent weeks. At least not so many in succession. Even the manager hinted at at it by saying the team he saw today was unrecognizable from what he has come to know and given what they have put in over the past few weeks he simply couldn't blast them for 45 very bad minutes. Like everyone we just hope today is one of those things and with the relegation now avoided they can have a really good week of training, put in a solid display versus Burnley and head to the cup final in good spirits and bring home the trophy.

As posted before 78, Ipswich lost 6-1 in their last away game (at villa ) before lifting the fa cup v arsenal.

I was at that game and if my ailing memory serves me well they played a number of stiffs, notably in goal (Laurie Sivell?)

Pretty much everything has been said already on this thread...a very strange day. Delighted to avoid relegation but very pissed off with the performance and result.

The only consolation I take from the day is that I've said previously that I wouldn't be comfortable going into the FA Cup Final on an unbeaten run as we'd be over due a defeat...at least this result gives the players a degree of perspective and removes any complacency.

I felt Grealish looked tired and leggy at times against West Ham and again today, so with that in mind, I'd now take the opportunity to rest a few key players and anyone carrying knocks. We've got 2 weeks to turn todays shambles around and put in the performance of their lives on the world stage.

Fuck 'em up, get into 'em!

'Fun' fact of the day. Mane scored more league goals in less than 3 minutes today than we did in the final 10 league games under Lambert.

Well, it's over. We're safe and we have 2 weeks to keep players fit, get this defeat out of the system on the training ground and work out how we're going to cope with Arsenal and their plethora of attacking talent with whatever back four we have available. Mr Sherwood this is where you earn your crust pal. Villa Park will be rocking against Burnley.

I was a Spurs fan until they scored the 2nd goal.

Hopefully that 6-1 Mane-ing was an one-off. Beat Burnley and then the Arse, all will be forgiven.

Fucking hell

What are you on about? Did something happen yesterday? All I know is we were safe after the games and now getting ready for Fabian's both arms holding aloft a trophy at 7.30 PM on May 30.

One of those days, but we're staying up that was the main target when Tim took over. We also have a cup final to look forward to. So today instead of being down on the result I am celebrating that we aren't going to be relegated and hopefully two weeks from now we will be celebrating a cup win.
If you had asked me in February for where we are now I would have taken it.

Tim has done a brilliant job in only 3 months. He's rekindled my enthusiasm again - Lambert had all but drained the life out of the players and fans. I think some players were either carrying knocks or running on empty; there's also an element of perhaps holding back and not wanting to get injured for the big day in a couple of weeks. I think we'll see a far different performance at Wembley - more like the Liverpool semi.

Did'nt enjoy being a Spurs fan for 90 minutes today(apart from the result of course), am happy to get back to detesting them again.

One of my best mates is a Spurs fan so, I now need to offer my sincere thanks to him as we really didn't want to go into next weeks game still needing a result.

I was a season ticket holder until about 5 years ago but, gave it up as frankly I was bored with our style of play. However, yesterday, I decided as TS has bought all my enthusiasm back with his brand of football, I'm now the proud owner of a 2015/16 season ticket and, excited our prospects for next season.

UTV!!
