Vlaar is a really weird player

Capable of playing brilliant for a few games, then having a random utter shocker where he looks laughably shit. Followed by three months out with thigh-knack.

If only we had that stoke point where he fu.cked up.

Dreadful from start to finish.  Outplayed in every department from start to finish.  The defence was an absolute shambles.  God knows what he needs to do to pick them up after that.

Yep going to take a hell of a lot to turn us round. We need to hope that Spurs win.

That's exactly how I'm looking at it. We've seen these players perform really well of late. One bad half hopefully doesn't undo all of that.

Vlaar is responsible for that. Criminal defending and we lose a game Inside three minutes. Given was poor too, under Longs shot and weak in claiming the first two, but Vlaar is the architect of this utter shit.

You go a goal down then you need to re-group not gift two more goals in the space of a minute. Game gone, fucked.

Why Sherwood messed with the balance at the back I have no idea. Mane turned Hutton inside out.

If we manage to stay up, then we need to spend some serious money on a couple of centre halves and a keeper.

Well if Hull needed a lift before their game, we certainly provided it.

I was running a bit late and walking to the pub here in Singapore to watch the game.  My phone beeped and I thought the thing was broken - 3.0.  So I turned around and went for a curry.  Even with my limited viewing of the Villa recently it has been obvious that the marking and defending in general has been shocking.  I'll be worried next week if we have to get a result.  And the following week, as far as I'm concerned we can park the bus and play for penalties if we win...

Did he mess with the back 4 though? Richardson wasn't available.

That means we're going to drop down at least one place.

I'm concerned that Given is the cup final
keeper now.

The only positive from today is you can now get better odds for the cup final.

Everything was crap today; tactics, defence and the midfield being utterly pathetic. Credit to Southampton, they know what they're doing and do it very well.

Yup. That change was imposed on him, but I still think he was way too slow to react when it was clear we were in a mess. It's the worry many had with his appointment, and it was borne out today.

This is not writing sherwood off by any means, but if he takes the credit for good results, he should also bare some of the responsibility when results like this come along.

Given has played every Cup game thus far, I would hope Tim wouldn't take that away from him now..
