I thought okore was excellent. If he's carrying an injury we're almost safe enough now to rest him against soton and play senderos?

Terrible news regarding the son of Parkes. Thoughts are with him and the family.

Glad you're okay Oscar. Take care, fella.

Finally, watching Sherwood's interview, glad he's lost the 'it's all about me' attitude and playing the clown that really pissed me off. The man seems so focused and loving his job, his team are doing the talking for him. After MON and Lambert, it's so refreshing to listen to your manager talk football and make valid points. Loved his last line but it was everything else he said that really impressed me. Long may it continue.

Agreed MB, Westwood is becoming one of those players that's important to the side and how we play, but you don't really notice until he's not there. If that makes sense.

I think at this point it's compulsory to mention the name Des Bremner.

And Frank Carrodus

He's been good in the last few games.  Taking their current form, if you were to put our midfield three into the next England side I don't think they would look out of place.

Our midfield 3 looks beautifully balanced.

I thought we looked a bit weary today which can only be expected after the energy we now play with. Cleverley is just immense. A high tempo  game clearly suits him and explains why he was so poor under Lambert's painfully slow and sideways passing team. We need to get it done next weekend because I think one or two could do with the rest before the Final. Tottenham are on their holidays so I wouldn't rely on them. 1 more win.

Very nervy on the Holte today. Seemed fairly quiet in L4 considering it was essentially full.
Although there were moments towards the end when they were lumping it up to Collins that most of us wished we were still hiding behind the flag.

That's a stonking pic, can I/we nick it for FB?

I've nicked it as my desktop and laptop screens now. Quality picture.

Beautiful picture

Thought Cleverley was superb and it's great to see a player like Jack almost demanding the ball and always looking to create something. Collins was very good for them unlike Nolan who looks like a Sunday league player. Thought we played some great football in the first half and could have gone in 2 or 3 up. Allardyce seemed to send Song on with instructions to kick Jack as many times as possible without being sent off.

West Ham were singing 'Bubbles' quite a bit, I could hear them in the Trinity.
just makes you
The key thing for me now is that we are finally seeing how good our midfield can be.  Delph, Westwood and Grealish were excellent, Cleverley was better than that.   In the last month or so we've outplayed spurs, liverpool, man city, everton and now west ham by bossing the midfield and we're getting better and better at it.  The game is so easy if your midfield is controlling the tempo and when you've got someone like Grealish who can stitch it all together you really should be looking at top half/challenging for Europe.
my thoughts exactly I said it earlier in the thread. We look in charge and since we've been on our good run nobody has been able to fuck with us in the middle of the pitch. I mentioned Grealish cleverley Delph and Westwood earlier, but zog deserves a mention also. He was strong today and has been for quite some weeks now. Challenge for Villa will be to keep this squad unscathed during the summer window and hopefully strengthen it. Winning the cup would be a massive help in that respect. Come on Villa, we have to believe it's our year.

Good post robbo, totally agree.

A fine win today. I was more concerned about this match than Everton as we were expected to win (that makes a change) but we dominated the first half and rode the storm. Great to get a clean sheet. Chris Kamara even likened some of our play in the first half to Barcelona. That's a might fine compliment of how TS has turned the team around.

It is. What is also wonderful is the extra moments all our midfielders take when they get the ball, to draw in a few opposing players or the way they almost gleefully they play their way into a tight space confident they will be able to work a nice little passing triangle even on the touch line.

Be said before but our midfield is becoming a joy to watch and I include Charlie in that, thought first half we were decent not as good as some of the last couple of games, but still to much for the Spammers, second half Song did a job on Jack, but so good to see that he did not go hiding, this is going to happen a lot and he needs to be able to handle it.
Play slowed down in the second half, think at times we look a bit jaded, but still had the grit, organisation and determination to see it through, that's something we have not been able to say for a good number of years, onwards and upwards Mr. Sherwood.
