Just rewatching this game. My god clattenberg was awful. He was inviting everton players to foul more often in the first half, then rewarded them for it when they took him up on the offer in the second.

Scandalous. So glad he is not reefing the final. I have seen him have good games but today he was absurdly one sided.

There is a theory that Clattenburg over compensates for Everton because I read somewhere that he didn't referee a game involving them for five years because of a controversial display in 2007.

I believe it. I mean even down to little things like he was grinning and exchanging little jokes with barry & other Everton players, for Villa players just the scowl or "get up" gesture after they had been hacked down.

I am still angry about it even though we won! :)

I always said Lambert created a very good team. I underestimated him, he actually created a fantastic team and Sherwood is exploiting this very well. Well done Villa and Mr Sherwood your doing a very grand job.

Yes it was a Liverpool-Everton game in 2007 when his decisions favoured Liverpool greatly.

I couldn't quite believe it took him under 70 minutes to book an Everton player given some of their challenges today.

I did chuckle though when the first Que Sera sera chant popped up today and the Everton fans actually gave that a round of applause for beating Liverpool.

Great win, closer than it should have been. Clattenburg is a wanker.

One good thing looking long term is we're starting to beat the likes of Spurs and Everton again as we've had dismal records against both in recent years seeing as we were pretty much neck and neck with both during the MON era so good to be getting wins against top half teams again which is important to raise the belief in the squad.

What a great day. My 2 1/2 year old lads first game and he loved it. Boys did us proud. Whatever happens we are having a bloody good go at teams. So much fight and can't ever remember us closedown teams like we do at the moment.

Watching the extended highlights on Sky

The midfield there were all outstanding. That sort of Xmas tree formation we also played v Liverpool gives us a very different villa from the one I thought we might see under sherwood. Dominating the ball with a five man midfield and really suffocating teams that normally expect to monopolise the ball

I know it sounds odd but I didn't think the front three were that great today. Grealish looks very comfy and his set pieces have clearly improved. But I didn't think he was quite as good as previously

But overall that's just such a pleasing performance. We've come so far in such a short space of time

Still need to sort out the defending and habit of conceding late goals though

The way Jack Grealish played in patches today against a team including Gareth Barry it seemed like a Villa protégé handing-over ceremony.

I think when once Grealish learns when to shoot we'll have a superstar.

I think we've got one anyway. He absolutely pisses all over Barkley, who plays like a talented chimp.
