So much to enjoy about some of the play. I think my favourite was when Delph Zidanishly beat two players in our half, then sprung that pass for Grealish who kept it in with a very cool slide/control. It was like watching a Champions League team at times (though not at the back!).
Yes. Some of the  play was in that "takes your breath away" category.

Another thing, we normally lose or draw these kind of games with the excuse that the ref was terrible, today we overcame it and beat the 12 men. Brilliant.

Too right. They still couldn't best us with 12 men. Seems the Universe wants to make it tough for us this season. Maybe it's some kind of punishment for stumbling over the line a couple of times!

Great report from Pat Murphy,he said Villa Park rocking again, dubious Everton penalty, fortunate second goal for them. When he boasts about us, you know we played well. Said score line flatterted them.
I didn't hear that report but I heard his interview with Sherwood  and that was equally good. Tim tried to keep it down beat but Murphy was gushing about our performance.

Great to get that result - especially with Sunderland & Leicester winning. Delph deserved MOTM for me - but an all round superb performance by the whole team. I'm getting a bit fed up of all the humble pie I'm eating - firstly for my reservations about Sherwood, and now I've had to take an extra delivery for my earlier comments about Cleverley.  I made the mistake of saying to my mate before the game that Clattenburg was usually ok these days - how wrong was I - that was one of the worst refereeing performances I've seen in a long time. I'd like to see the penalty again, and their second was a clear foul on Given. Great to win in spite of him. And to add icing to the cake - I got the Guess the Crowd figure spot on!

Cleverley's goal was really good. He had the awareness to realise that Barry was ball watching, Bacuna played a perfectly weighted and angled pass that was timed for Cleverley to put away with minimal fuss.

I can't remember a season where the last few teams are winning so many.

I was talking about this just now, if you look at the bottom teams, they're all picking up points and most of them are showing a bit of spirit.

The glaring exception is Newcastle, who have lost eight in a row, look truly pathetic, and have such discord in-house that their manager has today accused one of their players of getting sent off deliberately.

As I mentioned on another thread I'm always baffled when Murphy is accused of hating Villa or supposedly being happy when we lose, that's a massive load of bollocks. Over the years I've heard him say many complimentary things about Villa, I think people only hear what they want to hear sometimes.

If you need any extra cheer after today, go and have a look at a Newcastle forum.  I think it's safe to to say that they're not best pleased and I wouldn't want to be on duty in "the Toon" tonight!

Goal 1

Benteke climbed so high above the centre backs his head was almost in the Upper North.
