Getting some points is all I cared about after the earlier result but getting the entire 3 points is really big for us.

Sunderland winning and their game in hand is still a concern but we did what we had to today. Delph was MOTM by far, Nzogbia still needs to do much more for me.

I think this is going to be a 39/40 points safety season.

Great win, a loss would have seen us in the bottom 3 but now we are 14th and above Newcastle and Leicester who have similar run ins to us..

Anyone have a count of how many times Grealish was fouled today? The way he slides past players, it's like watching honey slither off a spoon.

Poor refereeing today. Jack reminds me of the young Sir Brian. He's got a long way to go but I love the way he ghosts past players.

Despite a Man of the Match performance for Everton by Clattenburg we still beat him. We played really well and it was a well deserved Victory.
Cleverley and Nzogbia look different players under Sherwood.

I think all the team are looking incredibly better players than you'd have thought possible under Lambert.

We have a real gem in Grealish, his movement on and off the ball is a natural talent plus his confidence,  demeanour and ability to keep his cool under provocation is a lesson to some of the senior players.

Thought they all played really well today and gave their all.

So so impressed! I can't believe the turn around in a team so quickly!

We have our club back and it feels bloody wonderful!

We play to our strengths now and attack with verve pace power

Players all over the pitch who are now confident and values are rising!!

We have a spine of the team now that can challenge in the top ten

So much to enjoy about some of the play. I think my favourite was when Delph Zidanishly beat two players in our half, then sprung that pass for Grealish who kept it in with a very cool slide/control. It was like watching a Champions League team at times (though not at the back!).

Archie love some of your observations but Given gets no blame today.

Thanks, mate it is reciprocated. And same for Tuscans.
In my opinion, yes, it was foul, but an experienced keeper must never stay on the line of the goal, you must go towards the ball.
But I am so happy that I could forgive him even if I risk an heart attack every game.

Great win especially considering the results around us. We were totally dominant all game long and should have scored more than three. Not sure why Martinez waited so long to make his changes but they looked a much better side last 15 mins. Liverpool, City, and now Everton we have handed them goals. Ciaran Clark is being badly missed imo. First goal was similar to Liverpool's goal in the FA Cup. Very weak from Westwood initially but just plain awful from Vlaar. Second probably should have been a free out but Given has to be a lot stronger.
Our midfield three completely dominated Everton, Delph with a particularly outstanding performance. Cleverley has been far more aggressive and dynamic of late. Great goal. Both full backs were much improved. Okore solid again. Despite the two goals I didnt think it was Benteke's best performance but great to see him in the goals. Nzogbia justified his start with clever play and Grealish continues to shine.

Given 5, Bacuna 7, Okore 7, Vlaar 5, Rico 7, Cleverley 8, Delph 10, Westwood 7, Nzogbia 7, Grealish 7, Benteke 7. Sanchez 6, Hutton 5, Cole

Great report from Pat Murphy,he said Villa Park rocking again, dubious Everton penalty, fortunate second goal for them. When he boasts about us, you know we played well. Said score line flatterted them.

We played incredibly well today. Everton are a dirty side, all body checks and hacks. With an acquiescent referee they were able to indulge all afternoon. Everton have a good team sheet, they should stick to playing football. Clattenberg has nothing at all to fall back on, a terrible performance from a poor referee.

The football only came from one team.

We should be safe but we still have a fair bit to do. It's just a shame we do not have Newcastle on the last day, I quite like Burnley.
