I'm sorry I'll be castigated for this, but the Kop in full voice doing YNWA is an impressive sight.  They'll win this part of the semi, we should be doing Ghost Riders.......

I think you're right. There isn't anything we could have chosen to compete with YNWA because it is so established. We haven't got an anthem. Ghost Riders is the nearest, and it'll be played at some point, we'll definitely sing it at some point, and we'll almost definitely drown them out for most of the the game

The nearest thing we have for a anthem is ghost riders,
It's not very long but HITS is sang multiple times at every match, and everyone young and old knows it (the words being easy helps)

Ghost riders is also a great stand alone song, we should go with that it's the best we have

Personally I think it's a shocking choice and shows no emotion or crowd rousing surge. The rest of the footballing world especially our unwashed neighbours from Small Heath and Sandwell will be pissing themselves when this is played.

Surely someone at the club has to say, 'wait a minute. That is sending me to sleep!'

We should be doing "Ghost Riders" with complete verses. Leaving the verses on the back of the claret cards left on seats for people that don't know them.

FFS!

They can piss themselves all they want, we are at Wembley, they aren't.

My mate, a Bolton fan came to the qf with me, he wondered what the hell was being played. Its very bland. Them lot will have their 'anthem' and we have this shocker. Ghost riders would have got the antmospehere going
As good as the song may be in its own right, it's not a proper Villa fans' song, so I can't see us singing it...Ghost Riders is what we sing at every game and will surely sing when the teams come out. I hope we do. I can't imagine for one second any of my regular home and away Villa mates voting for it.

We can't compete with YNWA especially as it will be orchestrated, as it is at the beginning of every game at Anfield. They sang it beautifully at the start of the game up there earlier this season...they were silent for the rest of the game.
I look forward to a repeat of this on Sunday!

That song is embarrassingly bad.

There were 1,471 unique IP address votes for the Wembley song (these were de-duped by IP address to account for multiple voting). The winning song with 25% of the vote was Aston Villa That’s Who (2nd Hi Ho Silver with 20% and 3rd Ghost Riders in the sky with 17%).  All of the songs will be played at some point during the build-up. Article here on the song - http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~4641567,00.html The article also includes a video of Ampertaine primary school performing the song.

Peter Withe’s son, Steven, also entered a song called ‘Villa You’re the One’ which will also play at Wembley.

How embarrassing. With all due respect to the writers, it just doesn't hit the spot. We simply don't have a club anthem, and the only way we will is if it happens completely organically. Hopefully the fans' singing will drown out both this and that other crap from the most knowledgable fans in football.

Organically, you say? I for one categorically refuse to sing along to organ music having been traumatised as a young seminarian when Brother Harry played psychedelic Beatles records on his organ.

Also, Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale gives me the fear.

The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray.

On second thought, I have changed my mind and maybe we should sing this.  The key of C with no octave leaps should well suit our vocalists and they could give it the full gun.

Perhaps we can have something by that nice Jon Bon Tempi?

I might be misremembering but when that song was originally posted here a few months ago I think the reception was overwhelmingly positive.

FWIW I think its fairly good as far as football songs go, but I would've voted for ghost riders

It was certainly well recieved on here & else where.
Its might not be the best tune to lead the team out granted but its better than the rubbishing it getting in this thread

It's also close to the Hillsborough date so we had no chance of outdoing them on the singing of YNWA.
