This is a great read, I had no idea Yorkshire played in America in the sixties or who was the first overseas player to play for the county!

Yorkshire try to crack America

Why Notts and Warwicks not agreed to contrive a result? Notts could've declared, we could've each forfeited an innings and left an exciting run chase on for the spectators.

Boring bastards.
I said it a while back during the T20 that we do seem to adopt a very negative attitude towards our cricket.

EDIT - negative brand of cricket was the phrase I was searching for.

139-6
Trott gone now.....probably just as well we didn't try and contrive a result as we probably would have lost it!!!

153-7
Barker Ct J. Taylor b Ball 11
153-8
Clarke LBW Wood 11
Notts will get max bowling pts here, enough maybe to get 3rd looks like we may be settling for a disappointing 5th

183 for 9 now. Yet another abject batting display.

Heads need to roll. You could argue that Dougie Brown is top of that list but the batting really isn't good enough. But, Evans and Hain haven't produced this season, neither has Trott. I fully expect to hear his retirement announced soon.

Newell said yesterday he wasnt going to do that as they were happy with a draw

As expected the final nail went into Pears div one campaign today, personally think there's lots of positives to be taken out of the season  but the key reasons for the relegation were not enough batsmen coming to the party often enough and perhaps too much sentiment around Saeed Ajmal who with hindsight should have been jettisoned mid season.

Would imagine the likes of Kervezee & Choudry will be released, Oliver will probs just survive the cut & Gidman has disappointed performance wise as a senior player in a very young side.

As I say though lots of positives, the seam attack has been as good as any until it ran out of steam since the gutting T20 qtr final.

Leach, Shantry and Morris were excellent for most of the year, Barnard looks a decent supplement to those.  D'Oliviera will likely be the number 1 spinner next year unless Mo has a bad winter, so massive year for him.

Of the batsmen, Mitchell, Fell & Clarke have impressed in spurts, Whiteley has done well last couple of months.

Would hope with the bowling options available and maybe an astute batsman signing either experienced English or overseas a promotion challenge will be in offing next yr.

I agree. Good young team that played brilliantly in some sessions, but could not often sustain it over the 4 days. If they can keep most of their best performers, they will surely improve and  get back to the Division 1 sooner rather than later.

Lot of games it was the one bad session problem, usually 3rd or 4th innings, gathered plenty of bonus points

I'd rather bat at 3 if that's OK.

Lees dropped for disciplinary reasons, Root to open and Leaning to bat at four.

They'll be hearing from my Mum!

Tell her to bring her stick of rhubarb, she's batting at three. She'll have no problem against that attack.

I think we've been poor since Giles left. Dougie Brown is a good number two but I question his abilities as head coach.

As good as Jeetan Patel is I think we need to look at an alternative overseas player to underpin our woeful batting line up. Our seam attack is still capable of bowling sides out but our batting line up needs a major overhaul.

An interesting take on the Povey era at Edgbaston:

I don't agree with all he did but you have to give credit where it is due.
