We looked at chiltern railways but it was longer on the train especially on the way back and will go elsewhere before heading towards the stadium.

There is engineering work planned on West coast mainline for April so be forearmed.

Interesting. The Chiltern Railway site confirms what you have written, but if you use TheTrainline.com, the 1115 departure says change at Leamington:
Quote

Journey summary
Duration
Changes (1)
2h 13m
>
11:15
Birmingham Moor Street
Chiltern Railways towards Leamington Spa
32 minutes Calling points
11:47
Leamington Spa
12:06
Leamington Spa
Chiltern Railways towards Wembley Stadium
1 hour 22 minutes Calling points
13:28
Wembley Stadium

If you just put Birmingham Any with destination Wembley Stadium, it shows departures from Moor Street and Snow Hill but with different info again.  I used to use the trainline site heavilly but mainly for Virgin and West trains. For Chiltern it seems best avoided.

Birmingham International Coaches will also be arranging a coach convoy to Wembley Stadium and is expected to require more than eighty coaches in total for the event.
Wishing Aston Villa F.C. and all the fans good luck and hope everyone has a memorable day out!!

That's the plan but in a pub.

For car parking, we've been allocated the Yellow Car Park. That's the one closest to Wembley Park Tube and is a far easier out that the Green Car Park right next to the stadium.

The change station is the first one you can get a connection at. If the Wembley train stops at Leamington that's what will show.

How is a poor drunk to work all this out on such an emotional day?

I remember being on a Chiltern train years back when a very Brummie announcer had the piss taken out of every proclamation  - I began asking fellow travellers what they thought was so funny until my wife pointed out we were there to enjoy ourselves .-)

Train down from Bedford - easy!

Bedford Station is the worst train station in the entire universe.

Have a nice journey!

Same here, well down the pecking order but hopeful. If not, it's a day out in Wycombe for me.

There's also an unofficial car park I used v Chelsea and for a couple of England games, right next to the stadium for £25. Pre-book online and print off your ticket or have it sent to your phone. No queuing to get out the car park at all as it's not very big, although for one of the England games I hit a queue round the corner by some industrial units, but not too much hassle.
For the Chelsea game I left bang on full-time and was in the car and on the North Circular in no time.
