It was in every way a momentous game.   When it was over my younger son turned to me and said.  "Let's go on the pitch.   Thirty years I have been coming here and I have never been on the pitch".   I considered his position as a husband, a father, a multi millionaire television producer, a chairman of a board of school governors, a Labour councillor and an applicant for £10million of Department of Education money to save his local primary school and replied "okay".   It was that kind of day.  The only blemish on this piece of family history was that while he hurdled the perimeter wall, I fell arse over tip and had to be helped to my feet by some of the multitude of "hooligans".

Well it was like the 80s. Albion having their best side for a generation, thinking it's much better than the Villa side, and then watching as Villa actually achieve things while they win fuck all.

You could have just said that you and your son went on the pitch.

I love this thread is nearly 60 pages a record ? So nice to feel that excitement and passion come back after the last few years, lots of smiling Villains at work today - and a couple of shell shocked Baggies ha ha

I am guessing that was part tongue in cheek at the row between Damon and Hilts, part Brian and his ability to tell a good story, and part poke in the eye for the media hamming up the story of the animals that took to the pitch.

Everyone could just post 'It was a good game, I enjoyed it'  but it wouldn't be much fun.

No Clampy, I wanted to make the very serious point that my son who is in every way a pillar of his community made the positive decision to joint the celebrating fans on the pitch.   If I had attempted to portray myself as some sort of  role model, your snarl would have been justified, but I deliberately did not.

Brian summed it up perfectly.

I noticed the ever so posh Rupert Bell on Talksport say he also ran on the pitch after the match.

Still doesn't come close to Highbury, May 2 1981.  That was a pitch invasion.
