First game in 5 years today, since the last final, the buzz might be returning. An "are you watching Paul Lambert" would have been nice.

Written before today:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/11434193/White-male-football-fans-the-scum-its-great-to-hate.html

I didn't go today, so someone else had my seat in the L Holte, so I'm just wondering how many of those that went on the pitch before the game ended
were regulars/st holders.
My guess is that very few were and that the majority were once in a while opportunists.

Final whistle there would have been loads of ST holders and regulars on the pitch.

As I watched it from Holte after the final whistle, I have to say that I don't think I've ever seen as many people involved in a pitch invasion before.

Seemed about the same as Inter, Tranmere, Blackburn and Arsenal to me.

The years might have altered the memory of those particular ones and it might have just been the view from the Holte, but it looked absolutely rammed on there.

The difference was, we waited til the whistle had blown.

Surely would have been mentioned during post match press interviews rather than on Twitter?

Just seen MOTD.  Who on earth edited those highlights?  They made it look as though Albion had all the chances and we hit them on the counter attack twice.  The post match questions to Pulis made it sound like that was the case as well.  Was that the case with the commentary during the game?

We were firmly on top in the 2nd half and had a number of chances that they didn't show, just like they didn't show Delph hitting the post on Tuesday.  They on the other had created one good chance in open play in 180 minutes of football.

Aston Villa face a major FA inquiry, a substantial fine and the threat of a ground closure after West Bromwich Albion players appeared to be assaulted as the FA Cup quarter-final at Villa Park descended into chaos with an unrestrained pitch invasion joined by thousands of Villa fans.

In alarming scenes, which were a throwback to the football hooliganism of the Seventies and Eighties, West Brom players were left defenceless as fans rushed on to the pitch.

Scorer Fabian Delph claimed he was bitten, while Boaz Myhill, Craig Dawson and Callum McManaman all appeared to be barged aggressively, and the latter seemingly struck on the back of the head by one fan as Dawson attempted to shepherd him off.

The FA can impose a range of sanctions from ground closure to fines, if the club have been considered negligent. There is no prospect of Villa being thrown out of the tournament but any ground closure or reduction in capacity could affect the team in their fight against relegation. The most likely outcome would seem to be a fine in the region of £100,000.

Oh yeah, it was just like when Millwall fans ripped up Kenilworth Road or the Blues v Leeds game at St Andrews. FFS.

Because there hasn't been a pitch invasion for a while on live bbc TV is being totally overplayed.

I have seen a couple of reports that McManaman was giving as good as he got before Dawson hoiked him off. I was disappointed that Pulis was very quick to point the blame finger at Villa without condemning his own fans for chucking seats.

Also, is the stewarding and policing of a game like this not a joint effort, with WM police and some of the stewards from Albion in use too?

Apparently the press repeating this third hand have not actually seen the interview where he says this. Its on the BBC website. He is openly laughing when he says it.

He then after in another interview when asked about it says "Villa fans will get no criticism from me, they were fantastic today."

Honestly I know the sports press are pretty bad but they are reaching new levels of hysterical over reaction here.
