Media interest
« on: March 06, 2015, 09:51:43 AM »
Does anyone else get the feeling that the media are more pro-Villa since Sherwood took over?  Whether its because he is good for an upbeat press conference or just that he seems to have got the team playing on the front foot a bit more, but there seems to be a more positive attitude from the press and broadcasters recently.  The other evening Jeff Stelling on Sky said numerous times during the broadcast, "it's a good night for Aston Villa with the bottom three teams losing."

I think it's partially "Good TV" either way: We start to play well and have the great escape so they can fill up media with "Sherwood the Saviour" or we'll fail and then it'd be "Sherwood the Loser", so it's gonna be win-win for the media.

He's great for a quote so the media will love him. He reminds me a lot of John Gregory in that sense. I honestly have no idea whether I'll feel like this in the long term, but at the moment it's a very welcome change from Lambert.

Massively so.

The press love a narrative and right now the narrative is Tactics Tim- English, heart on sleeve, Kevin Keegan-alike with the best win ratio in the history of Tottenham Hotspur and harshly sacked for a forriner, saving Aston Villa from relegation.

It's enough to make you want us to go down.

(Its not!)

If we continue to improve I'll give it 6 months before he's linked by the media to the England job.  If he gets us to the final and wins the thing, less than that.

As a journalist you would far prefer him to Lambert. Almost guaranteed to give you at least one good line to run with each time you speak to him.

I agree. The pundit gang on BT the other night seemed really up for the Villa.

Obvious difference is that Sherwood wears his heart on his sleeve and isn't afraid to show it, I can also understand what he says!

5Live after the result on Tuesday night was all about Villa - Pat Murphy waxing lyrical about our great stadium and the atmosphere a full VP can generate.

Sherwood is good copy for them - I just hope he doesn't have any cause to make silly statements
He's from that Larndan innee, managed Tottnam dinnee

He is from Hertfordshire isn't he? I think he puts on the Mockney accent a bit. He can talk like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins for all I care so long as he keeps us up.

I refuse to believe that Upper Norwood exists anywhere outside of an Enid Blyton book.
