Ultimately it's up to us to perform. We haven't done that in a long long time, but if we do we have better players than them overall and we'll win.

Good on him I reckon.  Didn't go far enough in my opinion.

It's the most positive press conference from a Villa manager for years. I hope it works, it can't be any worse than the inspirational rallying cries of Lambert.

Really don't understand why Sherwood would provoke WBA before the game ?? Smacks of inexperience .

Why do we get so wound up about the effect of what our players and managers say?
Exactly.
Don't see much in it to be honest.
Probably because I'm not looking for a story that isn't there.

UTV!

No, he should have quoted this from Archbishop Herbert Cockthrottle

3. How would you describe West Bromwich Albion football club? A festering turd hanging like a clinker off a tramp's beard.

Probably because we're under enough pressure as it is without giving a side thats far better than us even more ammunition.

Yep. He's effectively written Pulis's team talk .

Like it will make any difference at all. They're professional footballers and this makes them sound like kids in the playground being told their mum smells.

Whilst patronising and belittling the opposition is quite funny, I think it will be used by pulis . We won't know unless he says something in public. I expect it to be a full on derby anyway .

Only remember playing once on my birthday, an extremely late winner against Fulham at Villa Park

If that was Leonhardsen in 2002 that was my birthday too. Under SGT - the sequel.

I can only remember 2 games I've been to on my actual birthday - 1977 at home to Norwich (Little and Gray scored in a 3 nil win) and then this one, on my birthday in 1983

The infamous battle of Brum in '83. Not bad, but I can beat that. We beat Small Heath 6-0 in the Simod Cup on my eighteenth birthday in 1988. I was there but I have just tried and failed to find out how many others were. I have an idea it was about eight and a half thousand.
i was at that one- went on the Lloyds bus from Nuneaton.

If they win Pulis will mention it. If they don't he won't.

Anyway if Sherwood's written their team talk then surely Gardner's written ours?
