I have just spoken to a guy at work who knows someone quite close to the first team (photo evidence of the guy with Sherwood on matchday so definitely kosher) who reckons that Sherwood had lost the dressing room weeks ago as the all just saw him as a bullshitter, so much so they were playing bullshit bingo behind his back. His tactical nous revolved round telling them go out and give 110%, they were all in it together, blah blah.I take this as a good sign as they players were as pissed of as we were and were crying out for a manager with some tactical knowledge.Onwards and upwards

I've got no problem at all with sherwood. It's not his fault he wasn't up to the wider demands of football management at a club in crisis. As Dave W says he gave us some genuinely great moments, for a while he made me look forward to watching the villa for the first time since the days of MON and he kept us up when when we were destined for the drop. I wish him well.

It is fitting, however, that Tactics Tim’s legacy will be a pile of ultimately meaningless statistics. He spent 28 games in charge of Villa, the same amount he lasted at Spurs. His win ratio was a modest 39.29% but that was markedly better than Ambitious Paul and Alex McLeish, and only three of the 10 managers they have had since football began in 1992 can boast a better return. Just do not mention his sack ratio.
His farewell statement was at least gracious. I've got no problem with him now he's gone.

"I am very disappointed that I will not be able to carry on in my role as manager of Aston Villa," said Sherwood on Monday, in a statement released through the League Managers' Association."I knew when I took on the role that it would be a big challenge, but it proved to be one I greatly enjoyed and I know I have learned a lot from this experience."Obviously, the initial priority was to stay in the Premier League, but beating Liverpool in the FA Cup semi at Wembley and then leading the team out for the Final was an achievement and experience that I will treasure for the rest of my career."I'd like to thank my coaching staff and the staff throughout the club for their dedication, the Villa fans for their passionate support and the players, who gave everything during my time at the club."I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season and indeed for the future."
