I have just spoken to a guy at work who knows someone quite close to the first team (photo evidence of the guy with Sherwood on matchday so definitely kosher) who reckons that Sherwood had lost the dressing room weeks ago as the all just saw him as a bullshitter, so much so they were playing bullshit bingo behind his back.

His tactical nous revolved round telling them go out and give 110%, they were all in it together, blah blah.

I take this as a good sign as they players were as pissed of as we were and were crying out for a manager with some tactical knowledge.

well you could, because he has

In the extremely unlikely event (0.0001% chance) that he would do well, he'd be touting himself for the Man Yoo job at the first opportunity.

"Sherwood in the end showed that he was an unqualified chancer".

"Who shall we hire next... I know!  Dwight Yorke!"

Joe Gomez turned us down in the summer because he thought Sherwood was full of shit. Mind you, not sure Rodgers is much of an improvement in that regard

yes the implication of being saddled is terribly offensive.

you know 1984 was only a novel

It was a year as well.

Just because they're footballers doesn't make them completely stupid, and as far as the events at training, in the dressing room, and the football pitch, they're probably quite clued up - it is their profession after all. So, if we all could see Sherwood was a hapless bullshitting thicko, then the players would've cottoned onto him a long time ago. Apart from Jack, who is obviously a bit of a clod, bless him. He's young though, he'll learn something eventually.

Grealish had a lot more opportunities under Sherwood when compared to lambert so he's probably grateful for that and so feels he should stick up for Sherwoood a bit.

If the rumour is to be believed, Sherwood wanting Townsend, Begovic, etc wasn't a bad shout.

Sherwood wanting Townsend always was, and always will be a terrible shout.

I disagree...pacey player who makes things happen at times.....he'd be similar to Sinclair in ability....which whilst not setting the world on fire has at least provided "something" on occasion.

I do concede that Townsend would have cost a premium up front and via wages.

Sinclair isn't really a first choice player, yes has still scored 8 goals in 16 matches for us. Townsend has scored 10 in 86 for Spurs.

So for around five times the cost we can have around a fifth of the end product of a player that only starts for us on an intermittent basis.

I fail to see how this would have made our season any better than it has been.

A friend has posted this photo on my fb page, which he took in luton airport earlier. Judging by that side profile, he's an even bigger liar than i thought!

So do I. I really wanted it to work out but it has been an unmitigated disaster this season. I still thank him for keeping us up and getting us to the FA Cup Final.
