Rogers or Moyes if that's the choice

It's a toss of one of Foxes coins for me

Whats it got to do with Ray Parlor

Ray Parlor 'Arsenal legend' it says. For those of you who are too young to have seen him play Parlor was a bog standard midfielder of no great skill. Perhaps a slight notch above Westwood. The 'legend' that is Ray Parlor shows his lack of intelligence when he states 'Gabby Agbonlahor
lacks penetration'. Well, have you ever heard anything like it!........oh.. wait a minute he might be talking about football.

Legend. No

Good media pundit. God no.

Good footballer in some great Wenger sides - yes definitely. He would have walked into any Villa team in his time at Arsenal. Suspect he played for Arsenal 400 times plus.

Bog standard he wasnt

I think if they terminate Tim's contract the majority view on this forum is that the two major candidates  are David Moyes and Brendan Rodgers
who even the Villa hierarcy must have heard of.  Can we have a poll please mods?

but are they realistically interested

Yes. Definitely.

If they ever both want to manage any of the top sides again they need to take a step back with us. We offer a great opportunity.

Mind you neither will ever manage a top 4 club again

There is a much bigger world out there than some British bloke who has managed in the top flight. Get one of them to replace Sherwood and I will be well pissed off.

A proper manager, from Europe, who is tactically astute please. There are loads of good candidates out of work.

I do favour Prandelli or Bielsa though.

I think Bielsa may just be bonkers enough to carry this off in particular.

This, a thousand times this. British /Irish managers are just not up to the highest level at the moment. There is a reason nobody outside this country wants to hire them. They are just behind the times.

Is that what you say now if you wholeheartedly agree?

Beisla for me too. He'd be a breath of fresh air.

Moyes would be a favourable second choice.

Luciene Favre is the one to look for there. Did a superb job at Monchengladbach last 4 years, relatively as good a job as Klopp did.

On Moyes. I too thought he did an impressive job at Everton but every season they'd hit their glass ceilling when they got close to 4th in the league and then faded away, very much like us under MON although he certainly spent a fair bit less on his squad.

Worry I have is how much the year at United has damaged him. I know it's a different league and all that but I've watched his Sociedad team this season and they are struggling, no real pattern of play apart from get it out to the wide players to cross in, really struggling to score and win game, dare I say they look to me a bit like we did under Lambert.

I can see the case for Moyes but of the two I'd prefer Rodgers. Think he'd be well up for the challenge if offered in the next few weeks.

Regardless of Sunderland appointing BFS, Advocaat's interview with Dutch TV the week after say something about the challenges they face.

Quote from: The Guardian
“Our squad was simply not good enough,” the 68-year-old former Holland coach told Studio Voetbal. “The club knew we had to strengthen ourselves but the chairman never told me how much we could spend. The struggle against relegation is not my cup of tea. It was time for someone else to take over. I became negative and didn’t feel like myself.”

Dick Advocaat: Sunderland squad too thin to avoid relegation fight

The Geordies look like a complete basket case, mind you they'd probably say the same about us.

Act soon enough and a comfortable mid-table finish is still there.  Leave it too long, and I reckon post Swansea could well be, and it will be squeaky bum time all season if we're lucky.

For me it's not, Moyes had much more control over things at Everton than Rodgers had at Swansea. So seeing as our board are not as effecient as Swansea's, a man used to working on limited funds and controlling everything is better in my opinion.

With all the talk and speculation, does anyone else feel like we are officially in limbo until we suffer a few more bad results. I have absolutely no confidence left in Sherwood to even turn this round, and more importantly, I genuinely dont want him to. Nothing against the man on a personal level because he was a fresh of breath air when he first walked in, but it now stinks of bullshit and the prospect of actually getting a genuine quality football manager is the only thing that gives me hope for this season. I want him gone.
