So the players we signed this Summer were not Sherwood's choices. Got to admit part of me had that impression. Makes it less surprising that he is still searching for his best formation.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tim-sherwood-facing-aston-villa-6606690
I get that everyone is pissed off - so am I - but the majority of posters said it will take time to gel and get a balanced side and formation. 8 games in and now everybody seems to be unanimous in saying get rid. I'll concede, it doesn't look like it's working out for Sherwood at the minute, but as I've said earlier, give him til Christmas or until we get cast adrift in 20th til we do what looks now likely to be the inevitable. We have to give him a chance.

If it's true that he didn't have any say and that he did in fact want a load of Spurs dross then that's hardly a ringing endorsement of him.

We've inevitably been linked with Rodgers. I would personally take him over Sherwood. I don't think we'll have a better option available. The Liverpool job was probably too big for him and overachieving in his first season was a curse as much as a blessing. Those fans always seem to expect to be pushing for a title run, even if they're not even good enough for top 4. And it also seems that Rodgers didn't have much control over transfers either. I do think we need someone like him to do what he did at Swansea, here. He may not be the best at organising a defence, but he'll do a damn sight better than Sherwood in that respect.
Timmy was a brash and cocksure little boy, but his parents thought he lacked a certain sparkle of imagination, which they believed to be the key to awakening his latent intelligence. That Christmas, the boy presented to his parents a wish list of presents: water pistol, catapult, silly putty, whoopee cushion. But his parents, keen on igniting a fire in the young boy's mind, which would stand him in good stead for big school, decided instead upon a range of educational toys: a chemistry set, the game 'Mastermind', and some Meccano. Come Christmas morning, Timmy opened his presents and dutifully thanked his parents. During the course of the day, he tried to play with his chemistry set, but found the instructions baffling. So he set about building something with the Meccano, but got bored after making a long stick of Meccano bits bolted together, which his parents told him to dismantle lest it take Granny's remaining eye out. Timmy slid the game 'Mastermind' under the settee and went out into the garden to throw snowballs. Halfway through the Queen's speech, there was an almighty crash. One of Timmy's snowballs had come smashing through the dining room window. Timmy's parents reprimanded the boy and sent him to his room. Timmy cried and said "You didn't get me what I wanted. I've tried to play with my presents but they are horrible and I hate Christmas and I hate you."And he didn't get any Christmas pudding.

Our players look utterly clueless on the pitch with even things as simple as what position to take up in the pitch. See Hutton the last day at wing back for example, playing at least 5 yards further up than he should have been. Our three midfielders against Stoke kept getting in each other way. Hopefully Rodgers is mature enough to recognise his own limitations as a manager and addresses those e.g. bringing in a specialist defensive coach. I dont buy the whole "he needs to take a break" thing either, he could be waiting a long time for the opportunity to manage somewhere like us. Take us back up to 10th and his reputation is instantly restored.Moyes would be another solid appointment but probably not the ideal fit for what we are trying to do off the pitch with Sporting Directors etc. He has the personality for Villa Park though and wont take any prisoners in improving us. Both would be miles better than any manager we have had since MON.
