If he becomes free after the next two games and perhaps his salary expectations are lowered then it may happen that's assuming we continue to struggle at Chelsea and home to the swans. We made McLeish one of the most highly paid managers in EuropeTop 20 in the world if I recall correctly.

I'm flabbergasted. Why a 3.5 year contract? Is there a worse run club than Villa?

Reading the thread back, there were very few people who were pro sherwood when he was appointed which may explain why he's been given such a short honeymoon period.
Well, let's just hope that he has a shackle-removing effect. That might be the one thing he's got going for him - in the short term at least.
Spurs fans seem to be saying the obvious. He'll keep us up, sign some shit Spurs players, and be sacked November time.

As you said, Suarez played a massive part in the season they nearly won the title. Would they done so well without him?Villa Park is a managerial graveyard in recent years so I am not sure how many decent options we are going to have. I know people say offer enough money and they will come but if it is the last decent job you ever have then it might not seem so attractive. True. But you do get the impression with this squad a bit of fine tuning could make them decent. Something that Tim cannot do thus far, maybe Rogers or another can.And regardless, we have to keep on trying.

I'm with Monty, I'm convinced they'd been speaking to him about another role (dof, assistant, coach), then the unthinkable happened and their hand was forced into sacking Lambert and they've just gone with the guy they'd already got to know without ever really looking to see what the other options were. The McLeish appointment was wrong because they'd decided he was a nice guy when they met him earlier in the season and they got on with him and that became more important than any negatives, this feels the same.I'm not even particularly pro or anti sherwood; I think he looked naive, as you'd expect from someone so inexperienced and I think he's an arse but then a lot of good managers are; my issue with this entirely with the fact that the messages from the club (albeit via the press rather than the official statements) were that it was going to be a long term appointment looking for someone with the right skills and experience, you simply can't say that's what happened when they rush through and appoint a guy they were already talking to before the position even became available.
