Quite possibly put off by Moyes wage demands. If he becomes free after the next two games and perhaps his salary expectations are lowered then it may happen that's assuming we continue to struggle at Chelsea and home to the swans.

We made McLeish one of the most highly paid managers in Europe
Top 20 in the world if I recall correctly.

And another randomly made up "fact"

Based on other posts, particularly your crowning glory in "Other News" last night, I've got to ask, have for had a lobotomy or are just WUM?

Scotch and toast?

Not a bad combo until you remember why you're in the tub. Then you throw the toaster in to end the memories and the pain.

Congratulations, you fucking idiots, you've added another embarrassing entry to your list of shit appointments.

We really have given up.

Bit over the top
Nope, absolutely accurate.

Out of the frying pan, into a fucking cremation oven.
I wish you two were advising Mr Fox back in February.

It's quite interesting reading this thread from the beginning.

He's not doing what we all thought and hoped he would be doing.
Sorry Tim, but off you go.

I'm flabbergasted.  Why a 3.5 year contract?
Is there a worse run club than Villa?

Phew.  Reading the thread back, there were very few people who were pro sherwood when he was appointed which may explain why he's been given such a short honeymoon period.

There's a comment that the Spurs fans say he'll keep us up but be sacked by November!

Well, let's just hope that he has a shackle-removing effect. That might be the one thing he's got going for him - in the short term at least.

Looking quite reasonable there (I lose my shit later on).

What's truly disturbing is how many predicted he'd do enough to keep us up and by somewhere between October and Christmas we'd asking when he'd be gone.

Spurs fans seem to be saying the obvious. He'll keep us up, sign some shit Spurs players, and be sacked November time.
Well if he had his way totally it was nearly true, Adebayor, Towsend and Lennon.

Anyone else find themselves deeply unconvinced by Brendan Rodgers?

Yes, he got them to second, but how much of that was about Suarez?

And if we're concerned about tactical messes now, what about the tactical clusterfuck he managed to produce in the semi final?

I'm not overly convinced about him either. As you said, Suarez played a massive part in the season they nearly won the title. Would they done so well without him?

Villa Park is a managerial graveyard in recent years so I am not sure how many decent options we are going to have. I know people say offer enough money and they will come but if it is the last decent job you ever have then it might not seem so attractive.

True. But you do get the impression with this squad a bit of fine tuning could make them decent. Something that Tim cannot do thus far, maybe Rogers or another can.

And regardless, we have to keep on trying.

This is Rodgers who was out thought tactically by the man people want him to replace who is apparently tactically clueless hence why a tactical genius like Rodgers might be a good choice?!

I'm with Monty, I'm convinced they'd been speaking to him about another role (dof, assistant, coach), then the unthinkable happened and their hand was forced into sacking Lambert and they've just gone with the guy they'd already got to know without ever really looking to see what the other options were. The McLeish appointment was wrong because they'd decided he was a nice guy when they met him earlier in the season and they got on with him and that became more important than any negatives, this feels the same.

I'm not even particularly pro or anti sherwood; I think he looked naive, as you'd expect from someone so inexperienced and I think he's an arse but then a lot of good managers are; my issue with this entirely with the fact that the messages from the club (albeit via the press rather than the official statements) were that it was going to be a long term appointment looking for someone with the right skills and experience, you simply can't say that's what happened when they rush through and appoint a guy they were already talking to before the position even became available.

This was my 2nd post on here and it follows the same as the first and plenty of others at the time. Rushed and easy appointment which never felt right to me. The performance in the semi turned me a little but it's clear now that the initial reactions from many on here were right.
