I get that everyone is pissed off - so am I - but the majority of posters said it will take time to gel and get a balanced side and formation. 8 games in and now everybody seems to be unanimous in saying get rid. I'll concede, it doesn't look like it's working out for Sherwood at the minute, but as I've said earlier, give him til Christmas or until we get cast adrift in 20th til we do what looks now likely to be the inevitable. We have to give him a chance.

I would love us to do something completely outrageous and curb the downward spiral. It's a big if but if we were to approach ancelotti for example and offered him the equivolent wages to what he would be on at a top club are we so sure he would turn us down? Offer him a two year deal, A fresh challenge, the chance to build a dynasty and revive one of the all time great football clubs? I don't know. But what I do know is if we have 10m to spend in January, I would rather use Sherwoods wages and put that 10m to it and get a really good manager than spend it on benik afobe.

I don't need anyone to tell me I'm dreaming because I appreciate I am, but we need someone in who's understands how a winning football club works, not a patch fixer like allardyce or another gamble like solskjaer

I have been banging, nay, rambling, on about this for some time. One thing we have going for us is that football today is devoid of loyalty. Make the offer big enough and you can get anybody you want.  You only need a manager to improve two or three players from Championship to Premiership standard to cover your outlay. It's a no brained really.

Can you see anything in our performances to suggest that doing so would result in an upturn in form?  If you can then you're right to want to give him time, if you can't then you're falling into the trap of not wanting to be considered to have acted too hastily.  Being nice and trying to do the right thing by managers who are clearly out of their depth is what caused us to be in this position, TSM 1 and 2 both benefited from that sentiment at the expense of the club and this one is going the same way.  Clearly there aren't a huge number of fans on his side, the team don't appear to be busting a gut for him and he has no idea what to do to turn it around, sacking him is a mercy at this point and I'd be amazed if he is still here by the end of the month.  All the news reports now are the end game, it's happened too often to not be obvious.

Have to agree Paul e.  Failure to act expeditiously is what has got us in this mess.

I couldn't think of a candidate more ideally suited to make us competitive in the league again, given the players at his disposal and the resources to hand to strengthen than Moyes.

Agreed. Similar situation to when he took over at Everton.

Would it cost us anything to get him? That might be the blocker.

... and the fact we still have a manager.

Depends if Sociedad sack him before we sack Sherwood.

Guess it's possible.

Sherwood could win these next 2 games.

Moyes would be the way forwards. Rodgers would be the way sideways with a marginal upward slant.

Precisely right Brian.

We could get any manager in the world if we offered enough.

So the players we signed this Summer were not Sherwood's choices. Got to admit part of me had that impression.  Makes it less surprising that he is still searching for his best formation.
