I think Rodgers is a much better alternative to Sherwood at the moment.

I find it very frustrating to hear people say 'give him till Christmas'.
Having been to all the home games under Sherwood and both Wembley appearances coupled with the live games shown on the at Southampton and Leicester how much more proof do we need that this guy is way out of his depth?
There are a few managers out of work or eminently get table who could use this squad way better so why let him damage us even more?
If these rumours about him having two games to save his job then great,if he wins them then what a relief and how vital those points could be.
If he loses them them then hopefully we'll get somebody in with half a clue.

Not arguing against your overall point
But the semi against Liverpool was the best performance from a Villa side for years
He then told that same group of players on the eve of the final that most of them wouldn't be here next season. He picked Nzogbia over Gabby and Hutton in the final too and did nothing during one of the most humiliating one sided finals in years.Never felt so low as a Villa fan coming home after that game.

Like I say, I'm not sticking up for Sherwood
But You were using all the games you have seen as the proof he hasn't got a clue, yet some of the games were the best we've seen in donkey's years

The semi final performance was one of the best Villa performances in years and he deserves credit for that. The final was one of the worst and most cowardly from any team ever at Wembley.

Arsenal did play well though.

Please, can we not mention that game. I don't want to be reminded of the disgrace of it as long as I live.

I'm not convinced on Rodgers.
Firstly I think he is up his own arse now and would see himself above the Villa job.
Secondly, he was a disaster at liverpool once Suarez had gone, wasted a fortune on over priced garbage and alienated the supporters.

We know he's had some piss poor performances
We know this because we are 3rd from bottom and most people want rid of him

I'm just saying if you are using all his games to prove he's useless then you also have to use the ones where we played the best and most exciting football we have seen since BFR

Get rid by all means, but let's be fair about it

We did although that's would be unfair on Arsenal. They did take apart Man Utd inside 20 minutes last week.

Anyone else find themselves deeply unconvinced by Brendan Rodgers?

Yes, he got them to second, but how much of that was about Suarez?

And if we're concerned about tactical messes now, what about the tactical clusterfuck he managed to produce in the semi final?

I'm not overly convinced about him either. As you said, Suarez played a massive part in the season they nearly won the title. Would they done so well without him?

Villa Park is a managerial graveyard in recent years so I am not sure how many decent options we are going to have. I know people say offer enough money and they will come but if it is the last decent job you ever have then it might not seem so attractive.

True. But you do get the impression with this squad a bit of fine tuning could make them decent. Something that Tim cannot do thus far, maybe Rogers or another can.

And regardless, we have to keep on trying.
maybe we will get lucky with a 3rd manager towards the end of the season

I find it very frustrating to hear people say 'give him till Christmas'.

That would see us down, I think. I honestly do.

I supported Lambert entirely his first two seasons, because I could see things that made me think he was going to improve us, or had the ability to do.

I look at Sherwood and I just see confusion and chaos.

Even though we arguably played better in the run in last season than in 12/13?

I agree Sherwood looks out of his depth now but which of the two at the end of their first seasons, would you have backed to have improved us further, I would've said Sherwood.

Lambert got lucky Benteke changed his mind the first summer and stayed, too big a task for Sherwood losing a quality striker like him so early in his reign especially as he fudged the recruitment of a replacement.

Let's not forget that Rodgers was not only shit at Liverpool he was dire at Reading.

Let's not forget he did a very good job and kept Watford up when they were in a lot of trouble and heading to League 1. He only spent a few months at Reading which admittedly wasn't great. He then did a super job at Swansea getting them promoted playing very nice football and securing a 11th place finish when most people they'd be going down.

Rodger's a  quasi intellectual tool, as opposed to Tim who is just quasi.

Rodgers speaks a lot of blarney, he would be similar to DOL I fear although lets remember the results were very good under him for 18 months so stuff like constantly banging on about Leeds and not competiting with Charlton were tolerated.

That's the thing for me with any manager, I don't care what they say after a game if we're winning a decent amount of games. When we start losing every week it's an easy stick to beat them with as now is happening with Sherwood.
