If Gestede said that, then why would he say he got it wrong? Its odd I grant you.
I can actually believe it was planned. A sort of extension of the "keep it tight for 20 minutes, then let rip" approach. With confidence low after recent results, Sherwood presumably wanted to make sure we were solid in the first half and didn't let them play through us, as that would have allowed them to build up a head of steam, given them belief and set nerves jangling among our players. Then, after half-time and with the players more confident, you start to play some more expansive football.
Clark in defensive midfield when Sanchez is sitting on the bench? What was that about?

Then, after half-time and with the players more confident, you start to play some more expansive football.Could we not have just used the fact that we've got much better players than they do to play well in the first half as well? Us trying to attack and score a goal or two in the first half would have been a better way to stop them 'building up a head of steam' than launching the ball out of play or giving away possession with every fourth pass we tried to make.
Brendan Rodgers will be telling Liverpool they need to be at least 3 up by half time on Saturday as Villa will really tear into them in the second half.
We took a Millwall fan with us last night and he loved it, first of all we came out of the Lions club right into no mans land between two rows of coopers keeping fans apart then my Villa mate managed to punch him in the face and give him a nose bleed when we scored, he said it was just like being at the Den.
If that first half was planned, then I'm Kim Jong Un.I'm not, by the way.
