Why cant he just say he got it wrong with the formation in the first half , made a couple of changes to put us on the front foot in the second and it worked , job done
May be something like his ego is stopping him from doing that?

Well quite , but I would have more confidence in a man who  admits and realizes his mistakes rather than pretend it was all part of the plan

anyway onwards and upwards , come on Tim !

We beat a Championship side 1-0, with 45 mins of decent football, not getting too excited yet. Let's see how we do this weekend.

Call me old fashioned but I bloody love beating Small Heath. If this doesn't get Villa fans up then God knows what would.
I really don't care much about them and not bothered simply because they are not worthy rivals. They are a smallish club naturally belonging to 2nd or 3rd tier of English football and that is where they have been for almost their entire history. We have nothing to "win" against them.

And the keeping the ball in the corners in the 84th minute at home to Blues was pathetic.

had we been playing Man City or Chelsea I could understand it but Blues?

We've conceded a shed load of late goals, we needed to close out the game, movng forward we need to learn to close out games much better so here was an ideal opportunity and it was a game Sherwood couldn't afford another fuck up with.

I honestly have no problem with this.

Normally I have no problem with it either but from the 84th min with another 10 to play out against that lot who barely threatened just seemed we were giving them a bit more respect than their potential threat deserved.

We don't ever have much to gain and if we never played them again it would suit me fine but if theres one team I love us beating then it's those dumb bastards.

It absolutely kills them and I love it.

He needs to settle on a formation quickly and start implementing it on a regular basis.  I think the 4-2-3-1 formation we played in the second half last night would be the best bet at home, whereas maybe adding an extra midfielder and playing 4-3-3 would be better for away games.  He has got enough options to change personnel here and there, but I think he has to settle on a formation and a way of playing as soon as possible.

The ball in the corner thing, I wonder if we were over compensating after the Leicester game.

With 10 minutes left? Ridiculous.

Why indeed.

Keeping hold of the ball when leading is entirely sensible.

Re: the game plan thing...if you watch the post game interview with Rudy then he pretty much confirms it was the plan in the first half. Absolute bat shit crazy I know, but he pretty says that the game plan was to be direct first half and play football in the second...unless of course we are know accusing TS of also coaching his players what to say in post game interviews.

Trying to save face perhaps.  Facts are he completely screwed up our tactics in the first half, but is too egotistical to admit it.

If Gestede said that, then why would he say he got it wrong?

Its odd I grant you.

If that first half was planned, then I'm Kim Jong Un.

I'm not, by the way.
