Interesting perspective on Sherwood:-

Quite a comforting read.

You know, I've never actually heard Sherwood mention his win ratio. I wish I had. I wouldn't be surprised to find it is mentioned by journalists a lot more.

So far we have started the season a bit like last season. We have been quite compact, worked hard, played some solid if unremarkable football and looked to nick games by the odd goal.  Difference was then we had enough fire power to carry us through.  At this point I'm not sure the Manager knows his best team, but we will learn more after 10-12 games.

Last season we started with Gabby & Weimann up front. With kind of firepower I'm not sure we'd have been worrying the likes of Kidderminster.

I think you knew what I meant.

Maybe I'm being thick, but not really.

Last season our lack of goal scoring prowess was quite rightly an (inter)national joke until the useless one was sacked.  And even then we were heavily reliant on Benteke.

Short of playing the ghost of Douglas Bader alone in a 4-5-1 i don't see how we can be worse than the first 2/3s of last season.

So that's another one in which he's been unable / unwilling to make the necessary changes mid-game. Has there been a single game so far where his substitutions / tactical switches have made any difference? I can't think of any.

I'm still in support of Sherwood, but today he was very disappointing. I hope he is learning from this. I'd have thought Wilkins might have given him a nudge to do something, though.

Very poor game management by Tim today. How he thought the front should stay on for 90mins is beyond me. Traore was the right sub but he took the wrong player off.

Get your shit together Sherwood. We look inept up front. Get rid of Gabby FFS and stop turning into Lambert. Is it something in the water down there?

To be fair, bringing on Traore definitely helped. However, in doing so he brought off Sanchez which was a terrible decision, and leaving the front two on for the duration of the match was head-bangingly stupid.

Sanchez was good today, I remain unconvinced we could beat anyone away just playing two centrally, we need three in there at all times as we just don't have players in midfield to take control of games.

Poor substitution.

At least we're not drawing games. Beat Sunderland and overall the table will be looking decent for the first month.

Does anyone else think that he'd make a better director of football than manager?

completely owned by Alan Pardew from half time on today. Considering the heat, farcical that he only brought on one sub and took off the wrong player at that.

How Gabby and Bacuna lasted 90 mins today

Two tactical horror shows from Sherwood in a row, not good at all.

Tactical horror shows by Sherwood?

Do Wilkins, Robson and Parks not get involved anymore?

The nagging doubt has become a confirmed problem for me. I'm not saying get rid of him, or that his deficiencies mean he'll definitely be a failure, but it makes it an awful lot harder for him to succeed if he's unable to change things during a game.
