I'm pretty sure that if Tom Fox had said to Sherwood "look, there won't be a single penny to spend but we're willing to offer you a four year contract on a couple of million pounds per year in charge of one of the five or six biggest clubs in the country off the back of your one competent half season of first-team management" then Sherwood would have bitten his hand off.

You really think that. You must be wearing your claret and blue tinted glasses. Don't you realise how far we have slipped. Without some money, he would be in a worse position than when Lambert came in. The odds would be completely stacked against him. Why would Sherwood potentially risk his whole managerial career on that when he could wait around for an easier introduction into full management. Granted the salary would not be so high elsewhere to start with but what you are saying would be like gambling everything on a single number at roulette.

Who are you thinking of that would offer him an easier route into management? He's not Jose Mourinho, he's not going to have Europe's top clubs beating a path to his door on the basis of six months at Spurs. He's going to get somebody desperate, like a Sunderland, a Newcastle - or indeed a Villa. Otherwise he'd be dropping down a division or two. Are any of those likely to be that much easier than the Villa job?Sherwood doesn't strike me as somebody lacking self-confidence, and definitely not the type to see a job like Villa (regardless of how much he could spend) and think "nah, I don't think I'll be able to turn that around".Paul Lambert's achievements with Norwich were greater than Sherwood's were at Spurs, yet he was more than happy to jump ship even with the remit of "cut the wage bill and don't spend much money". I can't see Tim Sherwood knocking around doing nothing, with every job that passes pushing his time as Spurs further from people's memories not wanting a crack at it, regardless of financial constraints.

If the noses or Albion came out with a hash tag like that, we'd all be wetting ourselves. It's cringworthy.
