Just beacause Sherwood isn't as shit as Lambert doesn't mean he knows his arse from his elbow.
Not the time for it lad. Go to bed.

I'm in bed but can't sleep. Can't think why.

I think it's a bit early to make any sweeping judgements on Sherwood. We were fucking atrocious today on every level, but it's up to Sherwood to learn from this now.

To tell players just after a drubbing that a lot of them can find new clubs smacks of petulance, to let a few days go bye wouldn't have hurt and i worry when a manager can be that petty. Yes he was hurting but so was everyone else. He got us to play above ourselves for a few games that bought survival but if by some miracle we get a lot of money to spend in the summer is he the right manager.

We will have to find out. Interestingly his tactics are seemingly completely ineffective in games where you would expect the opposition to be a better side on the ball than us, Arsenal, United away, Swansea, Southampton. Sides that are well versed in keeping the ball and passing it around seem to pull Sherwood's side out of shape, whereas previously under Lambert they were games that we would be in full self preservation and counter attack mode, with mixed to poor success. Against the other types of side, Sherwood seems to have done quite well, but home defeats to Stoke, Burnley, Swansea, drawing with QPR and losing at Newcastle when they were dog poor suggests he has a long way to go as a manager. He needs to learn other formations and when it is a good idea to twist, not simply send the same formation out because it worked once, that was Lambert's biggest failing.

Where was Phil Brown today? Againts Liverpool he was on the touchline more than Sherwood but I could not see him during the game today?

And a few more besides. I'm all for giving a new manager a break, but he's dropped more than one bollock. It's almost as if people don't want to criticise him because to do so would mean that the shit of the past few years wouldn't actually be over.

We had the same shit with Saint MON and his football.. we won games despite regularly defending for 80 minutes and people thought we were onto something special. Tim's tactics are limited to us having a go and working really hard. As soon as a team realise they have to put a shift in against us we're buggered. 'Caution' is a word limited for slippy floors in McDonald's.

Sorry but Tim was a long way off today. Whatever the capability of players he got it wrong.

I see it as a miracle that we stayed up, as I was convinced we would go. It's been difficult for him, as the squad is desperately thin on quality. We have failed to reach to reach forty points in three of the past four seasons, so it's been hard for any of our managers. At least Sherwood has gone about his job with some aplomb.

We have played some of the best football in years. That buys him time with me.

He has shown some naivety tactically, but I think he's been let down by a lot of indervidual errors and also an attitude post West Ham. I thought we'd struggle yesterday and had no confidence post Southampton. I get the impression the players considered themselves safe, despite the high line nonsense and switched off in a big way.

He needs the chance to re-build the squad. To say we can't go on like this is an understatement.

Hello mate, how are you feeling? It's nearly 1pm here in Japan, and I don't feel great. What a let down. Support was amazing though. I'm glad the season is over and I can have a stress free summer.

I like Sherwood, but I agree, he got it wrong. Hutton slows our play down, NZogbia needs to go, etc etc. I'm fed up of the lot of em.

No need to be sorry. You are right. I do wonder what he was trying to do though. Sit back & hit on the break? Knock it long bypassing midfield?

It doesn't make him a bad manager but it still hurts seeing Koeman & now Wenger basically laughing at how we set up and us being unable to change it.

We definitely need squad improvements that would enable us to switch up our approach when necessary (creative central midfielder, right-sided wide player, a striker who offers different things to Benteke/Kozak) but the jury's definitely still out on whether he can recognise when the right time is to make those changes: he had no idea how to do it yesterday, although a lot of it I think came down to just how well Arsenal played; and the same applied particularly for Swansea and the second half vs QPR. I think the thing worth hanging onto ultimately is that there are at least the foundations of good things present, keeping in mind the better performances under him.

I'm so grateful that he helped keep us up, whether it was a new face around villa park or his motivational skills, I don't really care.
What I do care about is the future, I'm pretty much unconvinced that TS has a tactical brain, he has a mindset of how he wants us to play, which is 100% gung ho.

I'm hoping he re evaluates his approach to games, against different opponents and brings in a defensive coach to steady the ship.
I get the feeling he is a great man manager, but naive with formations, what he wants his players to do, tactics, etc.

If the first quarter of the season starts as this one has ended, I believe the mob will be calling for his head quite quickly, let's be fair, we have seen enough shite in recent years to know whether this is a match made in heaven or Or the red horned creature is again upon us.

TS came in after the transfer window closed, with us looking nailed on certainties to take one of the relegation spots, playing dull football in front of decreasing home crowds.

whether by luck, skill, tactical awareness or more likely a combination of all of it he kept us up, started to entertain, and increased attendances. And that with the players who seem to have "reverted to type" against Southampton and Burnley and certainly failed to turn up yesterday at Wembley.

Its a bit early to write him off without allowing him at least some opportunity to create a team playing the style he wants to play. This set of players have played Lamberk's "hit the big man" or his bastardised version of "tippy-tappy" where midfielders dont get beyond the striker, for so long its ingrained.

Let's see what happens and what he does, not rushing to judgement on the last three games as indeed we shouldn't just looking at the Tesco's x2 and The Red Scouse games ... or on Lamberk's first four games of 2014/15.
