Things turn out the way we want them to in the league and on May 30th he'll be very close to Saunders.

Ahem ....No he will not.

First FA Cup since 1957?

It'd be fantastic, but let's be serious here - Ron Saunders, over the space of eight years, took us from the Second Division to the European Cup quarter finals via a league championship and two league cups. I prefer the FA Cup to the League Cup too, but it's objectively no harder to win than the League Cup is. Therefore, Sherwood would be more like Brian Little than Ron Saunders, which is no small thing!

More teams enter it and there's more rounds, so i'd say the FA Cup is harder to win.

One win in nearly 100 years suggests you're correct. We've got one win in two attempts at the European Cup, absolute piece of piss.

The League Cup has two-legged semi-finals though, so it's harder to just fluke your way through those. The only reason the League Cup was easier to win was really the weird matter of 'prestige', meaning the top clubs would play weaker teams than in the FA Cup. Now, however, the competitions are pretty much on an equally low footing as far as that's concerned.

It's all academic as Timmy's gonna win us the Champions League the year after he wins us the Premier League. At which point there will be a statue of him outside the ground. Even if I have to crudely chisel it myself*.

*Said statue will probably bear little likeness to Tim Sherwood.

I've already done one. It ended up looking more like Sam Allardyce though.

If Big Sam ever signs up to a dating website that'll be his choice pic. He's never looked better.

Interesting article here that contains some graphics and tables which preclude me from posting it inline at the moment.

You just beat me to posting that.  It's really interesting to see that the main difference is actually trying to create in the attacking 1/3rd of the ground by passing it in there and players actually sprinting to get into attacking positions.  That really comes down to not being risk averse and the rewards are actually starting to show for it.

I find it hard to believe we were averaging 7.4 shots a game under Lambert. 1.4 more like.

As TS said a while ago, he was "scratching his head" why this group of players had not scored more goals before his arrival this season.

Good analysis that

Though while I agree with the analysis it does show up the shortcomings of data. The numbers alone don't suggest much difference with the lambert era except a bit more sprinting and better shooting accuracy. The eyes tell you more within about ten minutes of watching us play

Truth be told, there was never a lot to fix except the basics. Thank Timmy for that.
