I'd much rather have a manager publicly stating that he's confident of avoiding relegation than a manager who says it in defiance but not really believing it...his confidence and belief will be picked up by the players and that can only be a good thing as long as confidence doesn't become arrogance.

I think TS has been a revelation since here and the brand of football is entertaining and to a degree successful. I love the attitude of the Manager in an almost Gregoryesque kind of way

BUT

Anyone else uneasy that he keeps say "we wont go down"

Tempting fate a little too much for my liking

Nope. He's saying that when asked about us getting relegated, i'd be pissed if he said anything different.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32468787

The interview after the match for the BBC when questioned about relegation where TS responded with "What we play like that? And we get relegated? You're having a larf ain't ya!? Made me shudder if only from a tempting fate (and it biting us on the arse) perspective. I thought Tim looked as though he was a little agitated during the interview. The sooner we can get some points and Sherwood (and the rest of us) can get back to a decent night's sleep (dreaming of the cup final) the better!

Perhaps he should have said "do you want to bet against us".

Hahaha! Perfect! Someone should point that out to Sherwood next time someone alludes to us not succeeding. That'd be ace!

He was a little agitated I imagine having just come back from 2 down, had a poor offside decision given against us, subsequently a clear pen and red card denied, followed by conceding a massive kick in the nuts 89th min goal in a game at the champions we dominated.

Fair point. Imagine... And then having to do a contractual interview lol.

One can't help worrying when we are only two points above third bottom and also have an inferior goal difference. We are playing well but there is still pressure on us. I'd be happy with a point against Everton but the games against West Ham and Burnley are so winnable. That six point lead eroded way too quickly. I honestly believe that we are looking at exciting times ahead as long as we survive.

Looking at the run ins of both Hull and Sunderland I'm glad we have the 2 point buffer even if it is giving us itchy bums. I don't trust either of those two sides to suddenly put together a magnificent resurgence. In fact Sunderland even managed to beat their local rivals and then capitulate in the very next game. The confidence in that squad could not be any more fragile. While we ultimately lost at the weekend we have now outplayed in three consecutive games teams that cost combined in excess of £500m to put together. That simply must give our side immense belief that no circumstance is beyond them and we have a lot of talent in the squad.

Hull have got to play Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Man U yet.  Sunderland finish with away games at Arsenal and Chelsea. If we can't get more points than either of those two we deserve to go down.

Agree.  One win should make us safe.

Those are daunting fixtures to be facing.  Having said that Man U were pants yesterday and we seem to have knocked the stuffing out of Liverpool.

As far as I am aware, their defeat to us in their only one in a while? They do flatter to deceive though.

Steady on kiddo. Actually....yeah, we've stunk out the football league and beyond this decade. The odd time under GHou and GMac I guess.

So am I. I'm really excited to the build up and start of games at present for probably the first time since 2010 so makes a welcome change even if we're still in a relegation battle.

To me it's completely different to the run ins of the previous three seasons which were all excruciating  and watching the games were very hard work...as has most of this season.

Tim Sherwood's made us good to watch again so for that along he has my respect. I think he's done enough in his short time here to give us enough trust he can get us over the line now for safety.

I just can't see from the way we're playing not winning another game this season, 3 points will probably be enough.

The weird thing is, it is really easy somehow to look at other teams and think they are putting together a run of form. Then you look at the current form table and see that we are mid table, with only Leicester of the strugglers above us. All of the other teams at the bottom of the actual table, are also at the bottom of the form table.

We are only 2 points clear, but 3 of teams below us need to overhaul those points for is to go down, and the reality is that only one of them is showing the form to do it at the moment. The teams in form, are us and Leicester. Added to that, we have played better than our points total suggests recently, which could indicate better results to come, and teams below us have harder run ins.

Put all this together and you'd have to be disappointed if our manager wasn't confident we are staying up.
