I recall an away game at Palace when a young substitute came on, stumbled over a challenge and let fly from 30 yards, the ball disappearing over the stand roof. 'That fella will never make a player as long as I have a hole in my arse' I confidently opined.

I doubt it. He'll have his sights on the Premiership next season and the Champions League the following.

Good interview. I enjoyed his views on the academy. I'm also with him on that matter. I'd rather see us bringing more of our kids through rather than buying sub-standard foreign players. It's fine when we go out and buy a Benteke, Vlaar, or Okore, but the likes of Luna, Sylla, Tonev etc were a real waste. And indeed some of those poor players stood in the way of some of our academy potentially developing.
It was pleasing too to hear that he felt we had 3-4 coming through who could possibly make the step up. So pre-season will be interesting.

Grealish, Robinson, Gardner and Bennett would be the main one's. Maybe that centre back that went out on loan can get himself involved too?

Edit - just watched the video and he says 3 or 4 stepping up and 1 or 2 out on loan. So that is an interesting comment. I wonder which category Robinson falls into.
