if you want a really good laugh, read the first few pages of this thread again

if your a regular poster it would probably be best viewed eating a big pie with a humble filling

I do, regularly. The humble pie is ruining my diet plan. That said, I did always think he could keep us up - I just never thought we'd be sailing through to the FA Cup final with verve and elan and other words to that effect. I have the same long-term reservations as others do, but so far I'd be lying if I didn't say how delighted I am to be as wrong as I was.

I dont have a problem with being wrong about stuff, its just opinions at the time
I was wrong about MON, Lambert, Hutton, Delph etc and no end of other things
Absolutely - I remember patiently explaining to people on here how it was inevitable that Blackpool reserve Nathan Delfouenso was going to be the next Didier Drogba if given enough time to mature and bulk up.

Looking back at my first post I'm happily going to be sticking to a diet.  I said I thought we'd made a mistake in the process of only speaking to one person and offering him the job.  Despite things having gone better than I expected I still think that's a valid concern.  I genuinely thought he'd keep us up because I didn't think we were as clear favourites to go down as many on here did.  My reservation still rests on the fact that he has no transfer window record to point to.  If by September he's bought and sold sensibly and we've started the season with the same 'win or die' attitude then I'll accept that Fox is vindicated in thinking he'd found his man at the first attempt.

I've reread my post and it doesn't come across as I intended really.  To clarify, put my slice of humble pie on hold until September where I hope I'll happily grab a spoon.

Congratulations, you fucking idiots, you've added another embarrassing entry to your list of shit appointments.

We really have given up.

humble pie is good for the soul. We all need it once in a while to bring us back to a level place in our lives. I wasn't happy about the appointment because I thought we should maybe have cast the net out a little further. That said, he's quickly won me over with every passing week, to the point that I am really looking forward to seeing what he might be able to achieve next season and hopefully beyond.

And the great thing about being wrong about Sherwood is that it means we are doing well, which ultimately is what every Villa fan wants.

While my first posts on the subject couldn't be classed as ringing endorsements regarding his arrival compared to some of the others I can feel rather smug looking back.

I thought it was a shit appointment, yes.

It's probably worth pointing out that we're still very much in the relegation mix at the moment, so I won't be cutting myself a nice slice of any humble pie just yet.

Not if we get relegated, I won't.

My point at the time was that, finding ourselves in a relegation scrap (and remember the momentum at that point in time), it didn't make sense to appoint someone with very little managerial experience, and whose experience was purely at a top six club.

The Cup is ace, we played great on Sunday, a fantastic day and everything, but we're still in the relegation mix. Which is why I'm not eating any humble pie any time soon.

I remember telling all and sundry how Isaiah Osbourne was going to be a superb player.

we're not getting relegated. I would be stunned if any of the teams threatened by relegation could put up that kind of display as we did last week. That will hold is in such good stead the rest of the way and generate immense confidence.

I didn't say we are getting relegated, but we are still in the mix.

It was a great performance on Sunday, yes. It was when we won at Anfield in September as well.
