I wonder whether someone at the club saw Houllier's return to Liverpool and what we thought of it and forewarned him as to how to play it.

I don't think he had quite the same affection.

Just before we took the throw in at the end of the game, the referee signified that he was about to blow and Tim turned to us and gave it the c'mon, where by a Spirs fan threw a bottle at him.

Sherwood grew up an Arsenal fan, and was not really very welcomed by the Spurs fans who are never happy with anything, so I think when he says he is thankful to be here now, I believe it. He has done well this week. No Spurs love in, just a bigging up of Villa and a genuine affection for us. Clever management of a difficult week.

I think Ramsey not being here with him hinders his ability of in game tactics. Ramsey is clearly a thinker, and reacted well to us, changing it and making the game in the week very different. If he ends up here in the summer, I think it will help Sherwood have the confidence to react faster.

Thing is, he wasn't really known for being quick on his feet tactically when ramsay was by his side at spurs, either.

Considering the injuries, and how low morale and confidence must have been when he arrived, I think he's doing a great job so far.

Hopefully Kmac will grow into that role.

It seems to me KMac is not quite as close to Sherwood as the Goalkeeper coach (thats him who stands up the whole game with sherwood right?)

I don't think he has been shown to be tactically inept. Some of the goals we have conceded late in games haven't been down to anything he did or could have done for example. He's learning all the time and the good thing he importantly is surrounding himself with other coaches to not only advise him but take some of the burden off him. He doesn't have to be a tactical genius. He needs to be a good Manager and that involves delegating to others that actually might be better than him at certain things. There is nothing wrong with that. Contrast that the previous bloke who despite his "experience" made it all about him and never appointed good coaches after Culverhouse and Karsa left.

I like what Sherwood is doing and I hope takeover or not he gets a chance to stick with us and build something.

I've been surprised that he's been good tactically in many ways. A good blend of direct and passing football. Mixed up the formations quite a lot and it's worked in a fair few games

Two gripes. First, he doesn't change formation during the game. He should have against QPR. Mourinho would have switched formation within 30 seconds of them going 352

And playing 442 with two wingers against Man United and swansea was an odd thing to do

Pleased overall. He might have to do a fair bit of rebuilding in the summer tho and there's no evidence on that part yet. If we have to replace vlaar, cleverley, Sinclair and benteke that will be a lot of work just to stand still

if we are taken over, we may find that three of those you mention can be persuaded to stay. Vlaar may well depart, but I actually now think that we have four good CB. Baker and Clark look to have learned well. The issue will be whether Senderos can stay fit.

It looks to me as though he has decided on a way of playing that he thinks will suit us best and with only a few games to go is not going to mess with it. If it keeps us up then he will be justified in that decision.

We will find out about his flexibility next season. He will, presumably, have a few of his own signings which should give him options in how we set up.

Absolutely, the difference in goals, results and enthusiasm should be recognised.
We have gone from despair to hope to anticipation.

Yeah. I know he will have bad days, perhaps bad seasons, but boy he has been what we needed right when we need it. He has built up a reserve of goodwill with me thats going to take a long time to exhaust.
