One thing I will say is that Richardson is not as bad as he played the other night, so he can't have been fit. Those booing him were just daft.
That was certainly the worst display he's had since arriving. The only games I've seen him play well for us were as a holding midfielder in the first few games.
At left back he's been poor. He's also never looked capable of doing 90 minutes.

Granted he was clearly not at all fit on tuesday, so he needs the benefit of doubt on that one. But I think we might move him on in the summer. The championship beckons for him one way or the other.

He wasn't particularly good in getting sent off quarter of the way through the West Brom match.

Nope. It cost us the game. I've never rated him at LB, even at his best.

"We will be on the front foot. I don't buy into the idea that you win games by worrying about the opposition and getting men behind the ball , if that was true Barcelona wouldn't win a game."

I do love the blokes football philosophy.

That is because he is a midfielder not a left back. I do agree it is likely he will move on a free to a lower division team during the summer break. I have only seen Lewis Kinsella four times. He looked steady but not much more.

Richardson is one of those players who can do lots of jobs, none of them well enough.

So not going down the Gregory/MON route of predictable milk bottle players.
Personally I think that's exactly what we'll be doing.

Like I say, it could be completely unfounded. But it's what I'm expecting - I'll stick my neck out now and say that at least 50% of our signings this summer will come from either Spurs or from the three relegated sides.

Nothing wrong with that as long as they improve us. A Charlie Austin, Danny Inngs, Matt Philips, Stephen Caulkner would do fine.

Agreed on the first two and hope thats the calibre of player we are linked with in the summer so we can ease the likes of Gabby and Nzogbia out the door and have a ready made succession plan when Benteke eventually hits the road.

Caulker is hopeless imo and wouldnt be in the QPR side if Dunne was fit. Phillips has only recently become a regular at QPR

Tactically I think Sherwood has an awful lot to learn, that shouldnt be surprise based on his Spurs work experience gig

Vlaar started the season really well for us but I cant remember a game of late where he hasnt been anything but poor. Always takes him a few games to get back into his stride from injury, maybe we cant afford that.

Richardson or Cissokho wont be at the club next season if we stay up.

I could  not believe that we took on Richardson.
I used to take the piss out of my Sunderland mate for paying five million for him.
He then ends up as a free transfer for us , playing fullback in a must win game and giving away two goals.
Only the Villa, how our ambitions have dropped.
Bring on the new owners , and "give Tim a chance "

Richardson is one of those players who can do lots of jobs, none of them well enough.
Bringing him back into a fullback role was a poor decision, and does not speak well of TS' judgement about Lowton. Perhaps more worrying was TS' seeming reluctance to make a change, when it was becoming clear that Richardson was in trouble.
I've always argued that fullback is a specialist role and we will struggle if we play players out of position in the fullback role. Granted that Richardson has some experience of playing at fullback, but it was clearly a big weakness on Tuesday.

Lowton started off alright at left back. But his form dipped again in recent games. Perhaps in no small part due to facing better and quicker opposition.

I had high hopes for Lowton after that run in, during his first season, but he's too inconsistent. I don't think we'll see him next season. I'd fancy a championship or promoted side to gives us a enough to break even on him in the summer.

it's a lot easier to be successful with that philosophy with Iniesta, Messi, Suarez etc in your team rather than Gabby, Wiemann and the Zog

If we survive, TS has a massive rebuilding job on his hands. We have four left backs to sell off in Richardson, Cissokho, Luna and Bennett. Lowton, Wiemann, Zog, Cole etc all need replacing too. Huge job but hopefully he gets the right backing in getting rid of Lambert's shite.

Tactically he's about the same as Lambert, albeit with clearer ideas, but we're seeing the huge difference mentality makes. Teams often reflect their manager's personality, and under Lambert we were dour, depressing, fearful and muddled - under Sherwood, we're headstrong, aggressive, a little reckless and fucking up for it. One is much more likely to get you out of trouble than the other.
