Someone said that we hadn't been classy by openly chasing him while Lambert was still manager.

Well, the three least classy clubs in the country are Chelsea and the two Manchesters, with Real Madrid & Bayern Munich the joint European Champions. We've been too nice for too long.

I have no issue with us having talks behind the scenes but it was a quite ballsy to be doing that so publicly. I think we've sone a lot great business very discreetly over the years. If they had him lined up then fine, but maybe I didn't expect it to be done this way. Still, I agree entirely with the last point. We have been way too nice as a club for a long time. Publicly we need to be a lot meaner and not be afraid. We ended up being one feeble excuse after another, almost apologizing for our existence. It would be nice to act with a lot more passion and conviction going forward.

From what I've read Lambert asked to be fired twice and presumably for a pay off. Lerner wouldn't sanction it. Hitting the bottom 3 possibly triggered a minimal pay off clause.
So he was fired immediately. Sherwood was in the wings ready. We had a plan B. Good work tom fox.

The only thing I'd say is all those sightings of Sherwood in the posh seats recently, if Lambert knew that was going on - and if that is what was happening - then I think that's very unfair.

I am glad Lambert has gone, he should have gone ages ago, but he doesn't deserve humiliation (and I know that's a strong word to use, I just can't think of a more appropriate one)

DOL was the worst for me.  No passion for us whatsoever.  Always just stood there like a broken lamp post.

I don't really get the "looks impassive" thing. Didn't Saunders used to sit there impassive most of the time?

I don't think it is necessarily a sign of a chancer or bad manager.

It's irrelevant, isn't it. Look at Jose Mourinho - sometimes he goes mental (running down the Old Trafford touchline), sometimes he just stands there looking almost bored. Pep used to go mad, now does nothing. I don't think Ancelotti has ever actually celebrated a goal in his life, even when he scored them. Fergie was pretty demonstrative. It doesn't really matter, like you say, but it can sometimes be endearing.

It doesn't off course but bear in mind we are going from a man who couldn't inspire or motivate you to take a piss if your bladder was bursting, so anything resembling a smile or a bit of confidence is going to be received very well. It won't determine whether or not he is a successful manager but it is nice to see a little bit of life and emotion from the new manager.

To stick up for Lambert, again, he spent plenty of time being demonstrative when we scored in the past.

It's only really the last few months he's turned into a sitting-down poker faced corpse. Which isn't really surprising, given the football and results :-(

Well, the getting excited is the easy bit, turning this season around will be the tough part. I think it's a mistaken appointment that'll end in tears, but he's here now, so we might as well get behind him (as we did with McLeish, lest we forget, and there was much more reason to be anti that appointment).
