Average away support for each club in Division 2 this season.

#1 Leeds United - 2,807
#2 Middlesbrough - 2,515
#3 Sheffield Wednesday - 2,510
#4 Derby - 2,125
#5 Burnley - 1,911
#6 Birmingham City - 1,779
#7 Brighton - 1,658
#8 Preston - 1,506
#9 Wolves - 1,470
#10 Forest - 1,443
#11 Hull - 1,393
#12 Ipswich 1,383
#13 Bristol City - 1,263
#14 QPR - 1,204
#15 Huddersfield - 1,128
#16 Blackburn - 1,106
#17 Brentford - 1,103
#18 Rotherham - 1,041
#19 Reading - 1,040
#20 Fulham - 988
#21 Bolton - 911
#22 Cardiff - 748
#23 Charlton - 637
#24 MK Dons - 636

That Cardiff number surprises me.  Thought they always took a decent away following.

Credit this season to the Villa fans, who during the worst season in the clubs history have continually packed out away ends & resorted to black humour of the clubs plight. To the Olbiyuun & Blouse fans enjoy your fun but most Villa fans were resigned to relegation after a 3-2 home defeat to Watford last November. The biggest pisstake of the Villa has come from ourselves & that is a credit to our humour.

I was resigned to it after Liverpool away in September.

Well...thanks for nothing Joleon. Don't let the door hit you, where the good Lord split you...Goodbye, good riddance, and fuck off out of my sight.

I will miss Ayew I have to say. If only we'd had him in a half decent Villa side.

I'm with PWS. I'm sick of just not caring. I should have been at least annoyed today but like everybody else, I'm just numb to it.

Are we leaving this thread in place for when Villa are bottom of Division 2 in November?

Watching the last games of the season. How we finished it, how Norwich did it and and in contrast how Newcastle did it.

When dropping down to the Championship the key to getting back up is doing it the very next season. That is a fact and has a lot to do with Premiership squads that can be restructured around a spine that is still affordable thanks to the money that the relegated clubs still receive the following season.

Newcastle, even though they got relegate right at the eve of the season , is in great shape to bounce back. They already signed a new manager and even if Rafa doesn't stay, the fans are behind their team and supported and appreciated the fight they put up in the end. They will almost surely grab one of the spots to the premier. That leaves one more slot for automatic advancement to the Premier League and another by play-off with all the unpredictability of cup-play attached.

And yet, while Villa had half spring to retool. The club is still owned by Mr IDontCareWhatLegacyIDefileCauseIAmARichAmericanWhithoutCulture, we are still managed by that halfwit Black that kept playing the money-grabbing bastards that doesn't care instead of preparing the youngsters for stepping up. The economy of the club is in shambles, the Board has abandoned ship and the fans are beyond caring after enduring 4 years of abuse culminating in a shameful relegation by any standard and unthinkable by Aston Villas. The previously mentioned spine to build around doesn't exist. We pretty much have to get rid of all of them to even have a prayer to finish top 6 next season. Not to mention that a fight-back campaign has never been launched by Aston Villa in the modern era of Football...

So no...its not more fun to go down. The Championship is a quagmire and there is no bottom below if you get stuck.

Don't underestimate the good a takeover will do.

If it ever happens.

There's a lot of water that will pass under both ours and Newcastle's bridges before we start putting their name on the title.

There's a clutch of players at the club who will excell in that division, whether we keep them all and blend them with some more players who have those intangible qualities of leadership. That's the challenge if we're to enjoy it and the elephant in the room must be got rid of. Let's prey this time somebody is willing to take him.off our hands.
