I dont see how the championship could be any more humilliating than what we have endured for 4-5 years. Its been pathetic. Did anyone watch the Leciester-Chelsea game last night? Chelsea taunting the leicester fans with "Aston Villa, Theyve won more than you".
We're a f**king laughing stock and there is no pride left in the pitch, in the boardroom or on the stands. dress it up as gallows humour but our fans are even at it (although I cant criticise too much as at least they are still turning up, many including myself have now had enough it would seem)
I would happily see half of our players leave along with the board of directors and the owner. Bring on the championship, I just wish I didnt have to watch us die slowly for the next 5months, like a bull at the end of a bull fight

It's embarrassing alright, but being in the championship would be humiliating. We have to stay in this league.

This thing about the bottom team getting £100m is a bit irrelevant isn't it?

It wont be spent on comfy chairs and golden Carlsberg goblets for fans, it will just be spent on doubling the wages of the same sort of shysters who have played for us for the last five years.

We've become a byword for meek and miserable failure, but I don't see that changing unless there are major changes in the structures of club management. A new, strong, knowledgeable chairman - finally - might make a difference. But the most fundamental change we have to make is in the attitude of the club.

We simply cannot go on with the attitude that it's ok to fail here. The comfort, complacency, apathy and arrogance around that simple idea - that failure will be tolerated, that things will somehow be ok in pursuit of the bare minimum - is what's killing our club. Hopefully it isn't too late to turn it around, but I really do worry with Lerner's passive leadership.

One thing we cannot afford to do is feel sorry for ourselves and drift towards the end of the season. If we do, we will struggle in the Championship.

There is a common expression in my industry, 'Prior Planning Prevents Piss  Poor Performance '  Preparation starts  now.

I got the impression Sunday they were readying for it without quite being ready to throw the towel in.

I have changed my mind. Yeah more fun to go down. We are going down anyway so we may as well try and enjoy it.

Bit of a moot point as we are going down whether fun or not and before I get slaughtered for defeatism, we have no chance of getting 30 points from next 22 games, theres no fight in the majority of players.

I know there is no guarantee, but if we even got 60-70 points next year in a lower league and a bit of bottle, it would be better than last five years of utter garbage.

Apologies if it's been posted elsewhere, but, far from thinking we'll bounce straight back up, Lord McGrath thinks we'll go straight through the Championship into League 1. Sad times

I think there is a fair chance he could be right.

There are plenty of ‘big clubs’ who have done the same, and while I would hope our financial position would be less precarious than the likes of Leeds, I don’t buy into the our lads will piss the championship view point.

You can add Bolton to that also. How can we be sure with the current record of mismanagement endemic in the club we would be any different?

And with our recent record against 'lower league' sides in the cup competitions , I certainly have no confidence we would be in for an instant return.

The Championship is a slog - with games played at all times on any given day during the week. I am sure that won't sit well with our prima donnas.

What, three wins in our last three matches?

Surely you're not going to argue that we have a good recent record against lower league sides in the cups?  Scraping past Blues and Blackpool 1-0 at home (can't remember who the third is) is hardly something to be proud of.

So:

Blackpool (heading for relegation) : 1-0 at home
Bournemouth reserves : 2-1 at home
Notts Co (division 4 side) : 5-3 AET but behind on 3 separate occasions
Blues (crap division 2 side) : 1-0 at home

If anyone thinks that sort of record is indicative of an easy season in the Championship you're on a wind up!
