There's a theme running through this thread that away trips well remembered would be some kind of compensation for relegation. I don't travel to many away games for various reasons, so the opportunity to go to dull, grey towns like Barnsley holds little attraction to me. I respect our away support, and I'm grateful you represent and support Villa, so if it happens I wish you all the enjoyment you can get. On a personal note, it won't be a salve for me.

As somebody mentioned on here, it only takes that one season away from the top division for the prestige to disappear. Highlights programmes starting at a quarter to midnight, inches rather than pages of newsprint. Even if we came back up first time, we'd still be seen as early favourites for relegation and underdogs to the likes of Crystal Palace. Even if you don't give a shit what others think of us, it's not an attractive proposition to have to work to even get back to square one.

A lot of the arguments on here seem to be around how we'd get the piss taken out of us if we went down.  What do you think is happening now?  Some rag ran a 'Souvenir Edition' this weekend because we'd scored a goal!!  It can't get any worse.

Was it the small heath official programme?

One of my neighbours is a Hammer and he said that the last season they were in Division 2 (2011-12).the media coverage compared to the Premier league was night and day

Bounce straight back up and it will be a successful season that those who travel away will remember even more fondly than the rest due to tales of away trips to grounds rarely, if ever, visited before. Then there is what could be called 'The Sheffield Wednesday Alternative'. You get to visit even more new places in League One and actually remember Old Trafford with nostalgic fondness.

Well exactly TV. When does this thread turn into 'which ground are we looking forward to visiting most and least?' I think the latter answers itself probably

It wouldn't be more fun, because we'd still be owned and run by the same clueless bunch. We would drop like a stone.

No because unlike last time there is no immediate return. And it could get a whole lot worse.

It would at least mean I can cancel Sky Sports. I will just pretend top flight football isn't going on next season (and probably quite a few thereafter).

It's just struck me, if we do drop, next season we can play music after each goal at home and possibly before corners

Kenny Everett famously played a sneaky advance copy of Bohemian Rhapsody bit by bit over a period of time on his radio show. If we had tried that after goals this season we wouldn't have reached the scaramouche's yet, let alone been doing the fandango.
