Only scenario I'd take is Newcastle a few years back who totally walked the championship and then came up and finished 5th in the premier league before reverting back to mediocrity.

If you think Newcastle are mediocre what do you think we are?

Somnambulant.

Somnambulism, as well as meaning sleepwalking is the ninth and deepest state of hypnosis. One of my best mates is a hypnotist, you pick up the odd thing.

They have finished below us while Lambert's been in charge....

Maybe Tom Fox was hypnotised when he took the job on?

It's all very well thinking it will be good but I would expect a number of financial cuts meaning a fair few people losing their jobs at Villa Park and Bodymoor. There is the human element of it to consider too.

It would be embarrassing. I would hate every minute of it. Victories would be hollow as being out of the top flight is beneath Aston Villa.

If the victories would be hollow, how can you even begin to describe the defeats?

If we got any victories?

Actually going to aways in 1987 was a brilliant time. Bradford, Huddersfield, Barnsley etc. some great memorable away trips.

Well at least we won a load of away games. Having said that, Blues and Millwall away weren't exactly a big fun fest.

Great times. I worked in Derbyshire at the time so got to all the away matches in the north. Bradford is an all-time great memory with both Grays scoring I think, as was Barnsley in the rain on that big open away end with Birchy's superb lobbed goal. Sheffield United was a good one too, though I can't quite remember it clearly, I was stood behind a stantion in the old away end and couldn't see much.

One thing I remember about Sheffield United in that season was that the coppers were absolutely up for a bit of trouble. Barging into people, being heavy handed, trying to get people to kick off. It was absolutely blatant.

South Yorkshire police were always bad for that. A couple of years later, we found out just how bad they really were, sadly.

Yes, I remember that Paulie. Spooky to think that so many of us were at games like that all those years ago. I seem to recall a break away goal for us, Tony Daley maybe, and possibly Aspinall scoring, but I get my wires crossed so easily on the precise detail of who was playing in which year!

We wouldn't have to play Manure or Chavski, that has to be a plus point  :D

The only real bonus would be new grounds and teams to play and the possibility that we might win more games (although this isn't always the case - Wolves).

We'd struggle financially and lose our best players. We'd have even less chance of winning the sodding FA Cup.

If we drop, Delph will be gone before we kick a ball.  And I wouldn't blame him.

Ask yourself this

Villa survive by the skin of our teeth and PL stays

Or

Villa are relegated and PL is sacked

Which scenerio would you be most likely to renew your season ticket or attend matches

Its fairly simple for me and does assume he'll be sacked but if he leaves regardless of whrre we are it'll be more fun than what we are witnessing now
