No it wouldn't be fun. I feel down about Villa now but relegation would be a lot worse.

No guarantee we would come straight back up either.

The most depressing aspect of this impending relegation is that Lerner will still be our owner and I would bet on lambert keeping his job too.

No it would not.

As others have sited this is not 1987 and we do not have a manager on the horizon who would come in and slam dunk the whole rotten structure and be able to steam roller the under performing players.

We would be stuck with a completely unmanageable wage bill with Guzan, Delph and Benteke out the door and money would be needed to plug the income drop, not to reinvest.

And there would be no guarantee we would have a better manager.

It would be a catastrophe.

Probably wouldn't be much fun, apathy from the fans, absolutely no interest from the owner, poor players attracted to the club, attendances down, the odd good day out and the odd decent result now and then.

Just like now in fact, but in a lower league.

Not really, but I don't quite get the logic of people seeing a scenario that actually makes things worse than the past four and a half years, as the solution to remedying this.

The stupidity, and that is being kind, what I actually mean is outright fucking lunacy of the suggestion that it would be more fun, is like losing your leg below the knee, but to cheer you up, they'll take the rest of the leg up to your hip.

You could tick off a few more travel destinations while you're at it. Forget Meeru in the Maldives or Samui in Thailand, try Mogadishu or Raqqa. Think of the fun you will have visiting these new places.

Oh I agree.  I'm just making the point that being miserable in the premier league with little hope for improvement under the current regime isn't any fun at all.  Infact I think the attendances are fantastic all things considered.

No it would not in answer to the thread title. Ask Wolves and Blues supporters if you need clarification.

No. If you want to get up the ladder to pick an apple, why seek out a ladder in the coal cellar?

Well said Ads I agree with every word of it. Championship football is beneath Aston Villa and it would humiliate us. I don't go with all this "it'll be fun" nonsense either. That's the sort of rubbish the Noses come out with. We must not go down.

Exactly this.

I agree with the whole beneath us/humiliation thing.  But taken in isolation, the whole 'going to matches' part of being a Villa fan would probably be more enjoyable.

No chance. It's demeaning, it feels dirty. Going to Watford and millwall is beyond rotten. I dare say many people thinking it'll be fun , did not experience the terrible doom of 1987.  Yes we came back up, but we had a brilliant Manager. The present one is a clown by comparison.

Actually going to aways in 1987 was a brilliant time. Bradford, Huddersfield, Barnsley etc. some great memorable away trips.
