It all depends whether this twat is still manager.
It would be great because we'd be "excellent" every week.

Relegation is horrible. It's humiliating. It's a stain on the record books. We invented the league and we've been in the top league over one hundred seasons - under no circumstances should it ever be acceptable for Villa to be out of the top flight.
For those not old enough to remember our last relegation, I guess you don't appreciate what you've got until it's gone. My memory of that time was the sense of loss in status and reputation of the club. We were viewed as minnows in cup matches, rarely mentioned in the national press and all the prestige of being European Champs five years previous seemed forgotten about. The image of the club took a hammering that took a good few years to get back. To add salt to the wounds we got relegated just when "the big five" formed to change football's relationship with the media forever. Had we been in a halfway decent state, as a club, we would have been part of that group. Relegation is not good!

It would be footballing purgatory for club like Villa. There's also the prospect of having to play that lot down the road, with all the shite that comes with it.

I like to think I'd retain a sense of perspective.

I'll go further: I can honestly see the club, under this regime, dropping into the Championship this season and straight into League one after next season. Just like Wolves did.....

"Fun" is an extremely subjective term. For example, I know a number of relatively intelligent people who think nuclear armageddon would be quite fun, not to say well deserved.
Objectively, for our club, it would be an unmitigated disaster.

It might be easier for us to score a goal, just.
But, I have no confidence that relegation might not result in an exile of Forest/Leeds proportions.

Being old enough to remember our last relegation, I remember it being pretty heartbreaking rather than fun. We were lucky that Graham Taylor arrived when he did, but even then it was a real struggle to get back up. Football being how it was then meant that relegation didn't really have the impact it does now and we went on to nearly win the league only two years after getting promoted.
I've read a lot of honourable stoicism in some of these posts ("we're Aston Villa, we should be in the top flight"), but the fact is that we have an owner, manager and some players who probably deserve to be in the Championship for their performance over the past few seasons.
If it does happen and let's face it, it looks like it could, then we would require strong and astute leadership both on and off the pitch to deal with it properly. My concern is that we don't have either and it would become a disaster. We would lose a few players, but let's face it, there wouldn't be too much interest in many of our players and we would be able to keep a lot of them. For example, when you look at what Sam Vokes and Danny Ings did for Burnley last season, a strike partnership of Kozak and Weimann would be very good in the Championship (presuming the former returns).
In short it wouldn't be fun, it would be a long, hard slog with massive risk involved if we weren't promoted in the first season.

If Lambert went as part of the process, then next season may well be fun. We'd win a lot if games and be promoted. If he stayed, it would be worse than dreadful.

Would we really be a bigger draw for other teams than Newcastle were when they were down there last? Especially in the post-Sky era, I think we overestimate how big a club we are in the eyes of other fans. We are the archetypal club named in those "what is the point of club xyz" snidey comments.

Having to stay up until 1am on a Sunday morning to catch our 25 secs of highlights . How fun that sounds with Munish and Claridge musing over what Gabby brings to the party. God , depressing times.

The title asks "would it be more fun" my immediate answer is that it couldn't really be any less fun than the current situation. From MON's final season until now, save for the odd brief period, it has been a time of unstinting negativity.
I don't want it to happen, obviously, and don't think it will but if it did we would just have to get on with it and not wallow in self pity.

Bottom line is it would wipe another 8-10k off the gate particularly if we are not near the top of the championship. We'd still have a core 2000 away fans which probably would see some "fun" days out but that's about it.
Then again there has been virtually no fun since MON left anyway .
