A Villa 'fan' was on a radio station yesterday listing the clubs that Christian Benteke would be an ideal fit for this summer.

Yes you've guessed it 5 weeks away from our fist chance to win silverware for years SVC wades in with his sze 12s.

I would say he should engage his brain before he opens his mouth, but that pre supposes there is a brain to engage.

Oh dear! Maybe it's a radio rating things? Maybe he's just talking about a subject he knows? Maybe he's had to take his Villa fan hat off and do his job? Maybe he thinks he's helping us by building up the hype and raising the potential transfer fee? Maybe he has heard Benteke is being sold? Maybe he's trying to boost the ratings by upsetting Villa fans and getting responses from the teams fans who need a striker? Who knows? Probably only Stan. Is their a link to the broadcast? (See the ratings thingy is working. Stan might be on to something here).

I doubt that a radio presenter would have any influence on any of our players being sold or not sold. Hes just looking for something to talk about.
Nothing to see here.

I'd like to hear the context of Stan's words.  Either way nothing, surely, can be negotiated until a takeover has happened (assuming it does happen)?  My guts are telling me Benteke will be the perfect fit for Villa after the takeover dust has settled. If we want to build a very good team quickly and beat FFP we will have to keep the likes of Tekkers signed up and build a top team around him/them.

He may well do, but only for around £20mill. Benteke? £35mill. I'd like to keep both but, you could do some damage with that size of booty. Obviously, once Randy takes his cut!! Personally, I'd really like to see them both at Villa for a few years yet.

I don't see anything other Stan soliciting conversation amongst his audience. I don't think he wants us to sell our best players but I'm sure by suggesting these are the type of players the CL sides should be looking at t generates discussion. It won't make one iota of difference to what ultimately happens and I certainly don't think Delph is leaving. And if Benteke goes it will be for a massive, massive fee.

I don't think Delph wants to go but money talks to the club.

Is that a bad thing though? Surely Benteke would continue to up his game if he knew a big pay packet was on its way, in the form of a transfer.

And as much as Benteke is probably into his talk radio, I can't see him listening to Talksport on the way back from the training ground in his transit van.

I like Stan but in his newspaper column a few weeks back he said he'd scored for Liverpool infront of the Holte End (did he?) and he scored for Villa infront of the Kop (did he balls) so he does like to bend the truth on occasions to get a bit more publicity.

He scored at the Holte End for them and fucking loved it. Anyone who remembers his goal celebration against Albion in front of their fans in the North Stand, that's what the cockwomble did to us on The Holte.

Ah fair enough. I thought he only lasted a year at Liverpool for some reason and 96/97 they lost one nil at VP.
