Tomorrow all eyes will be on the transfer window. By Tuesday people will have calmed down a bit and will be saying "well it was Arsenal away." On Friday some will predict in the pre match thread that we'll get a result against Chelsea because of Mourinho's record against us. Then on Saturday night we'll all feel this fucking misery again. And he'll still be here.

Practically anyone who has managed at a decent level would get more out of these players. They may not be world beaters, but the random tactics & team selections of current chancer must grind the players down every bit as much as it does us.

Agree if you say it quietly we have got the makings of a decent first 11.  Tim Sherwood for me.  Convinced he would do well with these players.

We chatted about this earlier... we haven't got a terrible squad, a bit light in quality in midfield, but generally adequate to have at least 5 shots on target a game, add this to a 5th Round home FA Cup draw and a new manager could come in and be the messiah!

In a strange way, I get some comfort from reading the pain, anger and frustration flowing from this thread knowing that many are feeling the same as me. I was just too young to experience the period from 1966 to 1970 but that must be the only comparable period in our history to be so demoralising.

I just feel utterly humiliated by the slow demise of our great club. They should all hang their heads in shame.

The period of real neglect was 1964 with the shameful sacking of Mercer following illness to the end of 1968 with the arrival of Docherty and the new board. You are correct, this is the first time since then that there has been such an utter lack of hope for the future. Right now it feels like February 1967.

October 1966 to the end of 1968 Andy. That was when Big Tone left us for Chelsea and all hope was lost.
