Sanchez was rubbish yesterday and that didn't help Delph.

When we were playing West Barcelona (circa Mowbary era) football in the middle third of the season under Lambert, Sanchez looked good. We slowed the game down, he had plenty of the ball in deep positions and had plenty of time.
However, playing the high tempo way we do now, and also playing against quick sides like Swansea and Utd, he looks absolutely hopeless. I know it takes a while for some to adjust but for me, he's just completely the wrong type of player for this league and it'll take him far too long. As soon as the opposition get past third gear and ping the ball around he's done for. The game passes him by. His lack of pace is a problem too. He gets skinned with ease. He's so late to getting to opposition players that he's probably still on the bastard Trafford pitch right now trying to close down Rooney.
He's an undoubted weak link in the way Sherwood has set us up.

Yeah, I think Sanchez won't be seeing out his contract here.

Think he should.  Its only his first season and he's done well overall.  Not just that but it is important to have that holder to protect the back four.  Love how some people will make him a scapegoat for anything lol.

People thinking that he might not fit into the way that Sherwood wants us to play isn't making him a scapegoat.

Lol indeed.

2 players really stood out yesterday as being way out of their depth. Sanchez and lowton.

You'd think we'd learn from the likes of Hutton, Clark, Baker, Delph, not to write players off too quickly.

Aye.

Foreign players can sometimes take a full season to adapt too.

He also didn't have a break last summer with the WC, so it would be no surprise if he is a bit leggy now.

I wouldn't be against replacing him with better, but that depends on the budget we're operating with this summer.

Plus if Sherwood deems that Sanchez doesn't quite fit with how he wants to play, then Sanchez may get stuck on the bench. We'd be better off moving him on if he's going to end up surplus.
I think he's only playing because there's no one else. Sherwood was never a big fan of holding midfielders at Spurs. And we're talking players who were quicker and technically better than Sanchez.

My gut tells me he'll get moved on in the summer or next Jan. Largely because we could probably get 2-3 million for him and he's one of the few expendable but sellable assets we have.

I'm not sure there's any scapegoating going on here. He has a terrible game yesterday that's all.

Sanchez overall has been ok. Maybe he has struggled with the pace of the game every now and again, that's to be expected. I think he's worth perservering with.

Disagree. I thought he kept Fellani, who has been their key player recently, very quiet and was far more impressive than Delph for the first 60 minutes. Both looked knackered for the remaining 30 mins.
