The 606 staffer who is a Villa fan, and who attended the game today, seems to think that the Villa fans are at fault for not getting behind the team, and fighting each other in the stands. He didn't criticize the manager at all, and put more fault at Lerner's door.

I didn't go today, but in my experience Villa's away support is generally very large and supportive. If the Villa fans were not very supportive today, it is surely as a result of today's performance on top of those that have preceded it. There's a limit to how long you can will a poorly managed team of incompetents to score a goal.

Whilst Lerner is certainly responsible for mismanagement off the pitch, if I was calling 606 my take on today would be 'what was Lambert's plan for how to win the game?' because I don't know what it was, and I don't think he does either.

Sitting at the other end of the ground on the whole the Villa fans were relatively quiet but a few "Lambert out" and "you don't know what you're doing chants" were pretty loud.

This team should not be shit, thats my problem, they should be easily good enough to be comfortable. That might bring the odd silly defeat, the odd brilliant win but overall generally ok.
We're not though we are terrible to watch, maybe hard to beat but above all boring and toothless.
This has to be Lambert's fault. He's made us solid at last but that's taken 3 years, I can not wait 3 years for us to to crack the object of scoring.
He has to go now.

Any ideas on what Lambert was writing in his notebook? I think it was a satirical cartoon of a certain religious icon.

That's what I've told Al Jazeera anyway.

This
I would only disagree with the solid part.
I think we are more solid, but we are still too easily beaten.
Other than that, I think you are spot on.

I really, really think we could go down this season,
The table has suddenly become very condensed and 3 (probable) defeats coming up could see us in the bottom 3.
It may then be too late to do anything about it.

Yet another shameful showing on the pitch, followed by an equally embarrassing performance from the two short planks man in charge.

He can give it all the 'new playing style', 'dominated possession' and 'hard work' bollocks he wants. I'm not an idiot, and I doubt a champions league winning professional footballer is either.

We both know it's goals, a by product of shots and creativity that win matches.

So man up Paul, admit you've run out of ideas, negotiate a pay off, move aside and let someone else have a go before you do damage that will take years to put right.

And as for Mr Lerner, please open your eyes. There is no loyalty in football. You have to act now, before its too late.

Wonderfully summed up as usual, Mr Woo.

It its allowed to go on much longer then the abuse Lambert is getting will start to get personel - which should never be the case. He needs to go for his own sake us much as for the clubs

He looks like a lost little boy. A rabbit caught in the headlights.

I do not think he will be sacked, and I do not know who we can realistically attract. I still want him gone, though, his record is appalling, truly shocking. It is his team now, after 2 1/2 years, there are no more excuses. I cannot see where the goals should come from playing like this. Agbonlahor, Weimann, N'Zogbia, Cleverley, and Richardson, they are just so poor. What a new manager could do, of course, is show some tactical awareness. The total lack of movement upfront is shocking and seeing the midfield constantly passing it sideways and back, I cannot see how we are going to stop this poor run.

Just got back and I'm now convinced that we can't stay up whilst Lambert remains manager. Ok we've got 22 points but with regaining the ability to score goals clearly being beyond Lambert's meagre capabilities, we'll soon start to slide.

I'm so angry with those who still support him ( I think the several fights today were about that). Frankly I think those that do support him are either perverse wind up merchants like Westley or dangerous lunatics.

Today's results have dropped us right in the shit.  Look at the passion palace just showed then.  I'd give anything for half of that.

Just back from the game . That was absolutely abysmal. Clues tactics and players going through the fucking motions. Even the defending was shocking. Although this against the team bottom of the league.
A 0-4 loss would not have been an injustice.
Fighting in the away end again , even Villa bitch (for those who know her off twitter) was chucked out.
All in all disgraceful.
Lerner where the fuck are you ?
Lambert Out !!!
