That'll be a tough game. Have a feeling this will be as far as we go. They look a good side. I think they'll be buzzing and will be well up for it.

They made eight changes in the last round, not sure how high a priority this will be for them. Admittedly, they still won 5-1 away...

Good chance of being a TV game - underdogs from the Premier League looking to take the scalp of the top Football League club.
In the run-up maybe the Beeb can even dig out that behind the scenes documentary made about us in 1972 that was largely filmed around the 2-1 win over Bournemouth if I remember right. 48,000 there for a Div 3 game, what a sight Villa Park was that day.

Had a chat with a Rotherham fan today.
Told me he got the news that they were 1 up as he finished work...went to the pub and looked at the Sky screen...."gutted" doesn't convey his heartache.

I'm going ultra-optimistic; you can only beat those put in front of you. Good draw for both of us...I think.

Soooo excited about this. That game was the very first villa game my dad took me too. He was originally from bournemouth before meeting my mum and living in worcester since 50's. we still have family down there, and a couple are season ticket holders. As a surprise for my dads birthday last season they got us tickets for st . Andrews sat in the cherries end as that was the first time he had seen them play live for a good few years. It was a great day and they thumped blues, just as this year !! They don't seem to play their first choice 11 in cup games given their focus on promotion so should be interesting. From a purely selfish point of view I hope its a Sunday game as we are going to Liverpool game and getting 2 consecutive Saturdays off is a problem !

I was a 12 year old when we played them in the old 3rd div and can remember that game as if it was last week.
48,000 there which was a 3rd div record till the Sheffield Derby many years later I think,,even the Beeb could not ignore Us and we was the first ever game from the 3rd div shown on m o t d.
I will be looking forward to this more than us playing any prem club because of the memories it will bring back
Magical times

Pravda

Quote
The date has been set for Villa's fourth round FA Cup clash with Bournemouth.

We face the Cherries in B6 on Sunday January 25, with a 3pm kick-off.

The match will not be televised.

Bournemouth, of the Championship, are managed by Eddie Howe.

They currently sit top.

It will be only the third time the two teams have met in a competitive fixture at Villa Park.

In 1987, Mark Walters gave the claret and blues an 11th minute lead before Trevor Aylott equalised after half-time in a Second Division contest.

But the real memorable encounter took place in February 1973 in a  top-of the-table clash in front of 48,110 - a record Third Division crowd.

This time, the south coast side went ahead through Ted MacDougall but Geoff Vowden and Andy Lochhead turned the game on its head to record a famous Villa win.

Ticket details will be confirmed soon.

It look likes the TV companies have considered the fixture, weighed up the chances of a Championship club defeating a Premiership club and despite the likelihood of such an occurrence have decided that inflicting the sight of Villa upon their viewers was too high a price to pay.
